  1. It’s pretty typical on the northern edge of these events with dry air. The further from the radar beam you get the higher it gets, so you’re seeing precip that isn’t hitting the ground.
  2. It looks so close, second night in a row looking at snow approximately the same distance away lol.
  3. Nice shot. Looks beautiful. Good strolling weather. I took a trip down to Charlottesville with my wife just before my daughter was born. It was fun, very scenic area, did some cool hikes.
  4. If you look at Dover radar you can see plenty of virga over us. Where was this slightly colder air with lower dewpoints when we needed it 24 hours ago lolz?
  5. Well done. Do you go to school down there?
  6. This looks like a short pump jack you’re right.
  7. Yeah but sometimes lighter precip is actually more problematic in these temps. It’s only forecast to be in the upper 20s to low 30s for Saturday/Sunday. If you wanna see some pretty trees and deck railings then showers and drizzle will do the trick. Now, on Tuesday, if it’s really 20 degrees then yeah heavier rain will accrete and if you’re rooting for a high impact event then yeah root for heavies. Just my $0.02.
  8. Dry air eating it up as most models showed, no big deal. On to the ice storms we go.
  9. GFS showery/light precip look is probably what you wanna root for if you like accretion. It’s not gonna be cold enough for heavy rain to accrete I’d think.
  10. I agree. Can take or leave ice. NAM has two days of below 30 high temps. I remain skeptical. We haven't had any sub 30 highs yet this season around here I don't think.
  11. 18z NAM and 3K NAM both shifted a little north with tonights action, not quite enough for DC though.
  12. Bah, we need to shift that entire trough east about 500 miles. Texas is stealing our arctic air and snow!
  13. Euro gives out another ice storm late next week. 3 ice storms in the same week would be something.
  14. We need some kind of giant sun filter in space to reduce solar insolation.
  15. The swath of snow looks comically large on the 12z GGEM for Tuesday. It’s snowing the same 6 hour period from Kentucky all the way to Nova Scotia.
  16. I dunno, I'd be so happy to have light snow falling all day with actual winter temps. So sick of non accumulating snow. I'd love what the ICON is advertising.
  17. ICON is 12 hours of cold powder on Tuesday. Temps in the low to mid 20s. I'm going to just file this away in "I'll believe it when I see it" for now.
  18. So are you saying I'm going to get 6 inches from this storm? That is a pretty remarkable bust from inside 72 hours for the EPS. It's really going to be hard to trust it again.
  19. No question. As others have mentioned/alluded to it will be simply be harder for us to get snow as our climate warms. Of course it's not just a DC problem, as the years/decades pass it will creep up to colder climates. Look at the projections of how this will affect our ski areas. https://www.climate.gov/news-features/climate-and/climate-skiing
  20. Hahaha same here. Looks the same as our last "winter storm". As someone else pointed out it has snowed 3 times now recently but never at a temperature below 32 degrees for any amount of time.
  21. I'd take my chances any day with that sounding. Even if it was sleet it would actually be fun because it would be so cold.
  22. It's very cold at the surface for the entire event, even for DC. Teens to around 20 for the entire thing. Seeing as how everything has trended to 32-35 and white rain for DC this year I remain skeptical.
  23. Hahaha we lose again, oh well. We need to move to a real snow town, like Dallas! They’re going to have snow and temps in the teens.
  24. Looks like about a half inch of melty slop here.
