  1. HRDPS keeps showery/light precip going overnight.
  2. Brother in law almost slid his car off the road into Sligo creek. I think now is the time to stay off the roads lol.
  3. Changed over to snow now. Very interesting weather day.
  4. My road is finally starting to ice up. The higher proportion of sleet in the mix the last hour or so has allowed a tiny base of ice to build up on it. It’s about an hour or two away from being really treacherous driving if this keeps up.
  5. Pine tree branches really starting to bend here.
  6. Yeah there really does seem in be incredible local variation with this one. I'm looking at my trees all becoming encased in ice and hearing that just up the road in silver spring there is no accretion on trees. Pretty interesting stuff.
  7. Interesting, I’m right down the road in Takoma park and everything is icing up very nicely. Are you near downtown silver spring?
  8. 18z HRRR has precip until 00z-01z with about .15-.2 left for DC. Temps cooling a couple of degrees too.
  9. Love the ice palace look that’s taking shape. The neighbors wire deer fence is perfect little tubes of ice now.
  10. Everything is starting to become properly encased in ice. Roads still wet but everything on the north facing side of my house is really iced up good. It would be cool to keep it going until after dark.
  11. I've never given it any thought until this moment. If that's the case it would be more like 1/16 of an inch I guess.
  12. HRRR keeps precip around til 01z for DC. I think once we hit about 4 or 5 pm this could get nastier. We’ll see though.
  13. Hard to measure but I’ll call it 1/8 of an inch I think.
  14. Getting some solid accretion on branches now.
  15. Temps falling into the 26-27 range at the stations around me. Starting to see accretion on trees.
  16. Had to drive into DC. Roads are totally fine everywhere in Takoma Park and DC. Some untreated areas of sidewalks are becoming sheets of ice though. I saw one lady sliding down the parking lot ramp to target (not sure why she was walking on it in the first place) and I saw another guy glide a solid 6 feet across one of the grates above the metro.
  17. Sidewalks and roads still just wet in Takoma park.
  18. Hmmm sidewalks and roads still wet here but my car is already encased in ice. Coming down a little too hard for accretion right now methinks.
  19. The NAM is always right when it shows storms going north and giving us rain.
  20. It’s nasty out, everything is glazing up fast. Radar looks healthy for DC. Temp dropped to 27.
  21. 28/18 with a light freezing rain and sleet mix. Deck handrails already have a light glaze.
  22. Wow Houston Texas forecast low of 12 degrees Sunday night with a storm watch out. That’s gonna blow our seasonal lowest temp away. SMH.
  23. Please see your friendly neighborhood reaper @WxWatcher007 for further instructions.
  24. Yeah, I love the DC area. I have a job I love, so much to do around here, etc. But when I retire I’ll be moving to somewhere snowier. Possible places, Lake Tahoe, Alaska, Maine, Adirondacks. Tug Hill is snowy but not a ton to do there the rest of the year.
