    The GFS miss on the 22nd has me at 8 degrees while it's blizzarding on the NC coast. That usually doesn't happen. CMC is a hit and looks like a decent one for the 22nd.

    Went running and there is a surprising amount of snow still on sidewalks and streets in DC.

    18z GFS and 12z Euro look remarkably similar for the January 22 event.

    Wow the Euro and GFS are cold. Even adjusting for the models overdoing the cold in the long run it’ll still be really cold. You love to see it.

    Skied all day whitegrass on Thursday and it was really ideal. Top of the mountain was probably 20-30 inches depth throughout the woods. All they need up there is continued cold and some decent lake fetch every so often.

    That’s a nice look. I’m just so pleased to see the ensembles keeping it cold basically through the end of January. It looks like our “big warmup” next weekend maybe be a few days in the 40s. When is the last time we’ve made it through January without a big thaw and at least a few days in the 50s?

    My goal is to keep snowpack to MLK weekend. Then maybe we can get some more and keep it going. Have about 5-6 inch depth. We have a few days that will get above freezing before the next arctic blast. Not sure if we can do it.

    Snowflakes in takoma park. No one whine about how “we’re only getting an inch”. It’s cold, it’s been cold, there’s snowpack on the ground, it’s snowing currently, and it’s gonna stay cold. We usually dont have any of that. Enjoy this real winter in the mid Atlantic while we still have em.

    You’re nuts. We just got dumped on and it’s cold. Our snow isn’t melting and we’re about to freshen up the pack. And we have a decent pattern rolling forward.

    Very little melting today with the cloud cover and the below freezing temperatures. Rare days of below freezing high in MBY. The state of the pack is strong!

    We were forecast to get close to zero this week on some of those Euro runs about 10-14 days ago, and now what's it look like the coldest day in DC will be? Will we even get below 20 tonight?
