    Not sure when it happened (within the last few days), but noticed a big hemlock cracked open over the river when I went down there earlier today.

    Weather has sucked for this project so far, lol. But here's an update. More hands to help eventually. Fark me - just glacially slow.

    One reason relates to why stars will "twinkle" at night, while some of the planets do not. (See link)-> https://math.ucr.edu/home/baez/physics/General/twinkle.html Just before the Sun is totally eclipsed, many of the same optical properties apply, thus allowing one to see atmospheric perturbations.

    True, but on a clear day with the sun overhead, you get a fairly good representation of how it looks. The Sun's photosphere is around 5700k, and to make a comparison to lightbulbs, most at that temp/color are described as "cool white" or something similar. So if you were in space, the sun would appear white.

    To get photos like the above you need to use a complex filter setup https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hydrogen-alpha#Filter This is going to sound trite, but if you want to know what the sun really looks like, step outside and look at it.

    I can't tell if your camera isn't level or if you have a slope to your lawn that compounds wide angle lens distortion.

    Gorgeous day, lottsa snowmelt. Touched 64.6° earlier this afternoon, but then a bunch of clouds rolled in or something? Does anyone know anything about that?

    These maps drive me nuts. They do such a nice job with the interpolation, but fail to reject old data. I see that 9" inch Bradford report over my head, take a look, and see it was a "public" report from well before the storm was even over. Filter based on time-stamp at least, lol.

    I'm at 83.5" on the season, 890ft - and quite a bit further south - so I believe the big numbers. Never really had a good coastal where I snuck in the goods while guys further north were sucking cirrus.

    Oh Damn, I just assumed Norwich like as in the University. Could be. Little peek on Google maps shows some houses up above 1500ft.
