  1. I don't! Makes the hobby way easier. Don't have to spend all that time aligning and pointing the telescope at objects - point it wherever and the view is the same! Can even use them inside if I want. You guys would be amazed at the utter blackness of space.
  2. Yes it is! - this photo is a few years old now. Was working at Edwards AFB at the time and thus found myself living in the cesspit that is Lancaster, CA.
  3. Well, at least up here, deep winter to close out January. Took these this afternoon in the backyard while playing a game of, "is there rock under there or is that just ice?" While February doesn't look to be off to a great start, hopefully you guys further south will get some love soon enough.
  4. Triple weenie. Although, it has literally broken my heart only one run apart already.
  5. I agree - on one hand it's nice for snow retention (where I measure my snowpack is on a south facing yard) but on the other it's just dreary and miserable and when your main hobby is astronomy, clouds are a no go.
  6. 26.8 here, with what I'm going to guess are the last flakes of January. Little ball snowflakes that bounce off everything - it's amusing to watch them roll off the roof.
  7. What are you talking about? That's already a massive strike at my place. And only 372 hours out? And on Feb 14th, Valentine's day? The only pink and red decorations I need are the pink and reds that this bad boy is generating on the clown maps, cause there's no way this is gonna break my heart.
  8. 41.5" on the season, 15.6" snowpack. Been lazy updating here - also went down the data rabbit hole and found some CoCoRaHS data from a close by station to fill in for a December storm that I missed because I was hospitalized in Concord (all good now!).
  9. While this thread is sorta on the topic of seasonal snowfall totals, does anyone know or have a map of New England with similar fidelity to this ALY one? This is the first season I'm actually documenting my snowfall total and I'm trying to get a better idea of what my average is. Sorry, know this is off topic.
  10. The latest data! Snow pack is up to 15.6", the highest it's been so far. Forecast says there may be a good chance that's the highest it's gonna get. I guess we'll find out.
  11. Just barely squeaked up to 5.0" here in Bradford. Very pretty morning, bit of a breeze blowing snow off branches.
  12. Admins caught wind that I'm pinned under a weenie band and had to shut the site down for a bit lest I spam it into oblivion.
  13. Yeah, just looking on google maps, decently high terrain, no major mountains right next to it, you could pretty much cover the rest of the state.
  14. I'm solidly moderate maybe even moderate to heavy right now, albeit after a bit of a lull. I'm up to 2" fake snow and 1.5" real.
