So what happens first. Precip arrives before cold air leaves??. Or this baby makes its own cold air pool up the coast and cold air doesnt budge much?..of note here is this is still a coastal,so the easterly fetch is not as intrusive with an nne wind as opposed to a sse wind. Dont underestimate the cold air still around as well with lower then forecast lows and minimal diurnal heating with increasing clouds.

Interesting to see how temps rise with incoming cloud cover,the most interesting part is that nocturnal cooling was excellent,which in turn will keep us on the lower end of highs today esp with heavy cloud cover. My forecast high for the day sez 47f..not happening.!

Atleast we might get a good ole artic squall coming thru later on.. that should be something for certain parts of the area,esp if the line holds together.

All snow up here in the bronx rn..ill take the little surprize although i did mention it last night,looks like another hour or so of light to moderate snow.

The part of this that intrigues me is the chance of snow on the last day of january,which would be the ultimate trick by mother nature on us . Break 2 opposite records on consecutive days. 1 no snow..1 with snow to end the snow drought tech.

Snow before 8 am??..ill take it!!..the radar is expanding nicely for us. Esp the first fronto band already moving in to the area. Some part of me sez we get clobbered for a couple of hours..

Precip is redeveloping to our west,the front coming from the west and the coastal is getting some lift around these parts this afternoon.

White rain here in the bronx..visibilities dropped also. Should be changing to all snow very soon here.

The banding looks gd coming in to the city soon,temps will prob crash with the heavy to moderate precip. Also of note are the inverts that are around the area.

We might get one later. Things are looking interesting with all the inverted trofs and a coastal now to our east.

The evening commute is gonna be a mess. I dont think the models had another low trailing the one now off the coast,while it intensifies behind and brings snow to our area. It might be more then just a few flakes.

This system really isnt moving much,in fact it looks like its moving east/se. Also of note there is another upper level low vort northwest of the primary,which is actually throwing the cloud field and moisture back west towards us in the city. Its interesting to say the least to watch it go from clear to mostly cloudy here in the last couple of hours. Also of note show showers are breaking out in nassau county.

Snowing gd rn over the bx,expanding right over nyc. The bx has recorded snow accumulation for the year while cpk hasn't had a trace yet

For a storm thats supposed to be far away,i can't help but notice the winds picking up and on and off snow showers and flurries most of the day. Rn its snowing lightly here in the bx and i expect the radar to expand as the storm approaches.
