wow, very sad she couldn't experience some of those block buster winters with you, but still so glad to hear you hold those memories tightly with you. its a bit odd for me because i'm new to the area, ive lived in westchester for under a year, but i'm from albany originally. man am i missing the storms that would roll through there. I remember my senior year of high school 2013/2014 it seemed like in late jan/february a 4 inch event was equivalent to a dusting. After that I moved to savannah, ga for college and obviously missed out besides being home for holiday break, then did a 1.5 year stint in socal before i ended up moving back east with a big craving for snow

thanks don, i look forward to your daily reports. are the photos above from harbor island in mamaroneck?

my condolences liberty. i'm 27 and still in shock. really holding out hope we get some good snow this year, i really need that serenity

by default i should hate winter as a skateboarder, but a lot of people somehow neglect the beauty that this season brings. makes me kinda sad to hear how much people dislike it, there's literally nothing like the peace and serenity that a snowstorm brings. people are too caught up in their little world of social media and screen time to just sit outside and listen to the amazing silence during a snowstorm. not to get too deep into it but my mother unexpectedly passed in december at way too young of an age. from my early childhood she always instilled the beauty of what nature brings, especially with snow. thats why im so hellbent on us actually getting a storm this winter. funny enough it drove me to this forum which has become one of my fav things to read throughout the day. anyway. yes, nation full of couch potato morons. agree

at least its something to follow during the week, we haven't really seen a coastal recently on the models. Maybe it could pull through? You're right though 240 hours out is dreamland. Honestly this winter 24 hours out even seems like dreamland
-
believe me, i'd be ecstatic, but the gfs and CMC would need to follow this one up. I really hope they do though, I have my fingers crossed, even though they've been crossed all month

12z euro shows some type of action at 240hrs. Imagine if we actually got a snowstorm lmaoooooooooooo
-
no doubt, i woke up to flurries here in white plains, i opened the blinds and let out a loud "HOLY SHIT ITS SNOWING" my girlfriend, who was still asleep at this point, wasn't as amused as I was
-
we out here tracking flurries like its a nor'easter. i dont blame though anyone this winter is depressing
-
literally insane how terrible this winter is going. im really hoping we either get one bomb storm late feb to even it out or we get something REALLY good next year...
-
same... maybe we'll cash out eventually? maybe blockbuster next year?
-
0z RDPS bumped north again, looks like some type of potential
-
definitely trust canadians more than americans... lets hope they get this one right and we'll all make some poutine and pray of universal healthcare
-
so... who here thinks we have a chance to see some snow this week? these models cant be trusted
-
GFS is playing games with this every other model showing snow BS. I hope the Euro stays a little more consistent. The GEM is calling for something moving through Tuesday, this cold is our best window for something I'm hoping it pans out in our favor
-
i hope we can pull something off next week, this does feel like our window of opportunity. i got my fingers crossed, with all the storm tracks always bumping north and west we could be in the money this time... i hope at least

while i wait for the 0z models to drop, anyone know if theres snow on the ground in the catskills or taconics? girlfriends birthday this weekend and we're thinking winter hike. anyone with snow locked in on the ground let me know. I know its gonna be warm this weekend but the catskill elevation may help
-
Concerning next weeks storms if they come to fruition I have a feeling that the GFS is severely down-playing the southeast ridge, as proven with yesterdays event the Euro also doesn't know what the hell is going on. Going to be some interesting weather ahead. I hope we can score, seems as though this is one of our few windows of opportunity
-
LMAOOO yeah lets hope that wednesday system somehow pans out in our favor too
-
looking at the models noticing things to the south of us producing gives me hope of systems moving north and west because of this longstanding southeast ridge that models cant seem to account for. maybe, just maybe this could play out for us. however, when it comes to this stuff i cant tell my ass from a hole in the ground so someone please chime in and tell me if this is stupid logic

Light snow in White Plains at 1:30pm

I saw this when I woke up and it bummed me out. I'm new here and although sometimes your posts have made me a little bummed about the reality of our collective snowless situation and I always enjoy your knowledgeable 2 cents on all things weather. Don't stop posting snowman, do your thing!!

yeah it was weird, quickly turned to sleet
