  1. Anyone know how I interpret these charts? Hard to follow, where are the dates? Times?
  2. Fun to look at for sure; as we get close this will come into better focus, I would, as I am sure you are, take with a grain maybe two, of salt. I will add, that as you stated, very cold air has a propensity to really really squeeze any moisture out of the atmosphere so high totals are certainly possible. I know that happened in 1985, Nashville really wasnt suppose to get that much but seems like we got 5" or 6" of that really really fine, light, blow around type snow.
  3. Its been a while since we have had any appreciable ice in the middle TN area - certainly not hoping for any but just pointing that out.
  4. It probably was, I was a teenager back then and didnt really realize how rare that air was. Here is an interesting clip from the Weather Channel, about 2:30 into the clip he goes over the current temps. Nashville was -11 at that time of the show with a windchill of -56
  5. I have lots of thunder coming in from the southwest this morning; typically, storms that we get from that direction are more robust than those we get from the more typical northwest direction.
  6. If I get half of that I would be happy with the season!
  7. Very stormy here this am, not much wind but are getting clocked with general thunder and heavy rain. I cant figure out how to pair my weather station with the site here is the link....https://app.weathercloud.net/d5625349449#profile
  8. Whether we do or not I would suggest taking the time like I am to put some extra things around landscaping. Been working all day giving things a fresh covering of pine needles. Hopefully will be enough if we get real cold.
  9. GFS has an interesting set up for Christmas Eve, course it is in Fantasy Land so will go poof with the next run lol
  10. Good run for middle and east parts of state good that GFS is coming around
  11. I certainly hope we do not end up cold and dry, that is the worst!
  12. Wonder what specific pattern is good for the entire forum area? I can recall as a kid, the trifecta of winters, 76/77, 77/78 and 78/79 I believe were good for the entire state but not really sure what types of patterns existed upper-air wise that produced them.
  13. Good information, so, what you are saying is that, essentially, we could have two stark contrasting results at the end of the winter. Course, there are stark contrasts in an ordinary winter depending what part of the state one is in, I know that is the case simply in Middle TN!
  14. Are those negative numbers? That is crazy, bound to have snow on the ground to get that
  15. I like my chances in Middle TN; most of the Winters in the 60's were good for my area; 1976-1977 was the first of the trifecta winters I recall from childhood!
  16. Yea for those of us in the Nashville area, looks like we have another few hours of at least light snow. I started out this am around 10 I think it made it to 14 now back down to 12.2
  17. Yea seems to just be regenerating and running over the top of us, course, I am not complaining
  18. Yea, just posted about it, probably gotten another inch in the last 30 minutes
  19. We are closing in on 7" with this band that is just sitting over Nashville north wow
  20. Great! Hopefully everyone will have gotten their snow fix for a few days!
  21. Radars look to be filling in - anyone know what that impulse is in Northern Arkansas?
