  1. Thank you @Carvers Gaptrying to gauge whether I need to order another rick or two of firewood, have two and a half but have had to have a fire almost every day this year, even when it is a little warmer, object being to prevent the unit from kicking on, as much as I like TVA and all, would prefer not to have a $400 electric bill!
  2. Obviously this thread is for the current storm, however, I am still seeing signs of a bigger cold shot around the 20th, I believe @Carvers Gaphad mentioned an overruning situation?
  3. I know there were a couple times in the 1970's when schools in the Nashville area got caught with wrong decisions. A few times, kids spent nights on buses instead of at home; since then they typically call school when snow is even mentioned. The most recent time, I believe, was in 2003 when the NWS was calling for a few snow showers and we got several inches. The problem was that there had been no pretreatment, everyone was at school/work; then when it started snowing, when it became obvious the forecast had failed, everyone hit the road at the same time, only to have mass gridlock, kids spending the night at schools, it was a mess. https://www.newschannel5.com/news/taking-a-look-back-on-past-major-winter-weather-days-in-tennessee
  4. Which is different from their website which displays this graphic....I could not imagine being an administrator trying to decide about tomorrow!
  5. And not to be outdone, here is one of the statements on the Nashville NWS Facebook page with just one of the comments
  6. Here is the most recent statement on the Sumner County Facebook page.....
  7. We have a clear sky here, and the temperature is down to 9.1. It may touch 8 something before the sun comes up, which is a testament to the ice/snow pack to my north in the Commonwealth!
  8. Seems like the GFS has had the heaviest snow further south than other models; for example, the latest NAM is centered more so in the center of the state, is the GFS seeing something other models are not?
  9. You forgot the word Clark, it was a beaut Clark, a real beaut lol
  10. Latest NAM looks great for my neck of the woods!
  11. Took my nephew to school this am, Sumner County in TN; he said they sent a note home yesterday to parents advising them to have a way to come pick up their kids on Friday. They evidently plan on starting the day at least.
  12. Interesting, thanks for sharing, local mets around here are calling for 2 at the most 3 inches, which seems conservative but I am sure will come into better focus this afternoon and certainly by tomorrow.
  13. Lightening and thunder here and it is 36 such strange weather!
  14. What is that in the GOM lol and why wouldnt it get sucked up in the previous system?
  15. Is that what is hanging out in the GOM?
  16. lol that is crazy over three feet of snow on the ground in the MA
  17. The forum area does not appear to warm much after the storm either
  18. Would also be a unique situation for the mid atlantic, one would think that they would still have snow on the ground from the current storm, then adding another several inches.
  19. Would be a different storm than what we are used to in that we are used to hearing that there will be some melting because of the warm ground, by Friday, everything should be chilled to the bone!
  20. Would seem to be a long duration event though that has to count for something!
  21. Looks promising for middle TN but hesitant to sign off just yet
  22. I think we are headed in the right direction. I think I need to move to the snowbelt region of upstate NY, this modeling stuff is too stressful!
  23. Had some sleet and freezing rain at the outset but seems like it is just rain now. At least we are banking more precip for the watertable which was pretty dried out last Summer/Fall. Having been through some rough ice storms, while I feel for Kentucky and Missouri, dont mind at all passing on this one!
  24. Looks like could be kind of dicey in my area for at least a few hours tomorrow am; have not really seen much chatter about the wrap around snow potential Monday, have to think that this could be the bigger story, throw a half inch of snow on top of a thin layer of ice, not a good combo!
  25. I am making a criticism, just tagged on to your post, I apologize.
