  1. I was surprised how much staying power my .25" had. There was still some on the deck last night.
  2. Got down to 21 here. Coldest of the season.
  3. 23 for my low. RIP mosquitoes!
  4. 1.75" here. I like the death band placement. Good practice for winter.
  5. While I concede that LWX can be a little trigger-happy on the warnings, you seem to be asking for a level of precision that simply is not available given the current state of the science. Thunderstorms are inherently unpredictable--in where and when they form, how strong they become, and when they decay. The best meteorologists can do is issue warnings for an area that appears to be at risk for severe weather. Occasionally that risk will manifest; most times it won't. The alternative is to only warn storms they are certain will be severe, which will mean that the vast majority of storms that produce severe weather will go unwarned.
  6. Wild day at OC today. Saw a small waterspout (photo below), then chaos ensued at the beach when the leading edge of the storm came through (video below)
  7. 1.4" here in N. Bethesda. The worst of it went just to our west.
  8. Wow. Report of water rescue on the Beltway between Clara Barton and River Rd.
  9. .06 here. Really impressed with how we managed to get missed N, S, E, and W.
  10. Agreed. Looks like a shelf cloud and some scud. Still, cool pics!
  11. Yeah, they've been going all around us. I'm at less than .2 inches for the week...
  12. It's tough to tell. I doubt that guy knows exactly what happened because it the rain would have blocked his visibility. All the tree damage I can see seems to be unidirectional (to the car's right), but the fairly narrow corridor of damage seems more suggestive of an embedded tornado rather than a microburst. I'm sure NWS will send a survey team given the damage and the concurrent rotation visible on radar.
  13. Very interesting. It's tough to tell with the resolution, but it doesn't seem to be rotating. As always around here, the dang trees get in the way...
  14. It looks like the picture was taken from the roof of a parking garage at Columbia Mall: https://www.google.com/maps/place/Columbia,+MD/@39.216361,-76.8613105,32a,35y,197.4h,78.81t/data=!3m1!1e3!4m5!3m4!1s0x89b7dfb06369a051:0xf0d6bd65b687635d!8m2!3d39.2037144!4d-76.8610462 From this point, the two high rise buildings on the left of the picture would be almost due south, meaning the light on the left side of the picture would be coming from the clear skies to the east and south of the line of storms. So, assuming he's using an extreme wide-angle (~10mm) lens, this picture certainly could be legit.
  15. I had a great view of that as it passed south of my office. There was definitely some lowering and broad rotation. Skies were about as green as I've seen them as the line was rolling in.
  16. Does anyone have a screenshot of the couplet? I didn't see anything when I looked, but my loop may not have gone back far enough.
