Well, I haven't posted here in a while, but trying to get back into the hobby again. Losing my wife last year messed with me in so many ways, but I'm trying to find joy in my old hobbies again and this was definitely one of them. Anyway, I've been checking out the models today and I do like our trend as of now. Definitely an advisory event and trending toward hopefully a WSW. Last winter was a complete dud. Not that I cared personally as I just wasn't into it, but maybe this winter will be a little better for us. Already one good event so far and the possibility of another before winter officially begins. Anyway, missed you guys and missed this page.

The way this year is going, I was already considering that even before this possible storm. Lol -
Pittsburgh PA Area Spring and Summer 2019

I haven't posted in here in a few months or so. It's been a really rough 3 months for me. My wife passed away from cancer recently so I've been kind of a mess over that. I would like to get back to posting here regularly again. I need to get back to my hobbies and need distractions. Anyway, it looks like we have an unsettled week coming up. Had some pretty good storms move through late last night. Hope we don't have a flooding repeat from a year ago. These wet summers are getting old. -
When I said early in the week that I knew the WTOD was going to take over like it always does and screw us, especially south of Pittsburgh, that's when I should've just walked away and not looked at any model runs the rest of the week. The hobby sucks you in and teases you until you end up with just what you thought you'd end up with based on a long history of this always happening. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk

When WE need a west shift, it NEVER happens. Yet, those to our east and even southeast, that seem to routinely get big storms every winter anymore, have things fall into place perfectly for them. It's amazing. I guess I need to move to Williamsburg, VA if I want to see a big snowstorm now. I go there once a year on vacation, may as well just move there.

Yeah, I'm the same way. I'm sick of the nickel and dime snows we get in Pittsburgh while almost always missing the big storms. The people closest to the coast cash in a lot more on the big snowstorms than we ever will. They get a lot less snow overall for a winter season than we do, but that's just because all of our nickel and dimers add up little by little. I'd rather get one huge storm and see nothing the rest of the winter. Nuisance snows don't do much for me. They're just a nuisance and end up leave you wanting more. We sure are overdue for a big storm. Seeing Boston get hammered makes me wish we could get just one of these to track well for us. Of course, it helps when you have an ocean nearby. Stick a low out there and you can get buried. Boston has picked up 64.4" the last two weeks alone. I think that would be our 6th highest total ever for an entire season.

Sounds about right. The January, 1994 storm is still my all time favorite. I think I was in the absolute perfect location for that one. I lived in southwestern Westmoreland County at the time. I picked up 27 inches from that storm and most of it fell during the day. What made it even more great was we got hammered while the big cities to the east mainly got rain. That storm couldn't have tracked any more perfect, at least for where I was at.
