  1. Crazy scenario for sure.... Any thoughts on the severe potential today? I see much of CNY is under an enhanced risk. Looks like some decent clearing will reach NY before the CF passage...
  2. I think Roc his mid-60s today...low was closer to mid-30s.
  3. Listen, I defend every POTUS as a US citizen, period. What I DON'T defend are the policies I don't agree with (for any POTUS) nor do I defend Pres Trump's childish antics and narcissistic ways. With that said, he's ROCKED our political system to the core (which is a good thing), bringing a lot of junk to the surface (another good thing), yet has also brought out a lot of petty stuff in the process (which I don't blame him solely as people make their own choices, but he does hold some responsibility). Is he the perfect leader? No. Is he a perfect person? Not in the slightest. Has he done good things for the US in his 4 years? Many, in my opinion (we can debate this all day long if you'd like). Can we now redirect this thread to COVID focused and not Pres Trump focused?
  4. Moderna's phase 3 COVID RNA vaccine is planned to start summertime. If successful, with our accelerated schedule, may see a vaccine by Q1 2021. Maybe earlier, who knows. There's another vaccine being developed in China which is more like the typical inactivated virus ones we see with the Flu. Not sure I would trust any vaccine coming out of China though.
  5. Was just about to say it's snowing parachutes out there now with a temp of 37.6.
  6. Just for the record, I still love Delta. Our affinity for weather culture will always prevail!
  7. I can't stand some of the things he says and I wish he would stop using Twitter, like 4 years ago! With that, I support and respect all US Presidents, regardless of party, as I think ALL Americans should do. I DON'T agree with all US President's policies, however, and that's how I vote - policies over people.
  8. shill INFORMAL•NORTH AMERICAN noun an accomplice of a hawker, gambler, or swindler who acts as an enthusiastic customer to entice or encourage others. Doesn't sound very nice to me...just sayin'. "Loyal shill" is what you said to be precise.
  9. I'm NOT a fan of Socialism, but there is a distinct difference between a temporary stimulus package and a lasting policy of universal income.
  10. Doesn't make you or him right. I'M not hurling insults - YOU and I are having the conversation, not Pres Trump.
  11. "The Republicans own this mess and always will. " Really? Initial grant was approved under the Obama administration in 2014 for $3.7M funding research of bat coronavirus and some of that went to the Wuhan Institute of Virology. What's True A portion of $3.7 million in grants awarded between 2014 and 2019 by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to EcoHealth Alliance, a global environmental health nonprofit organization, helped fund research at the Wuhan Institute of Virology in China. What's False However, not all of that $3.7 million went to the Wuhan Institute of Virology, and not all of the funding took place under the Obama administration. Approximately $700,000 of the $3.7 million total was approved under Donald Trump. So instead of trying to place blame on a single person or party, let's understand the responsibility falls on many from both sides.
  12. Insults don't make for productive conversation. Facts and references do.
  13. Lol, could say that for any stimulus check given out in the past - here's one from the Socialist Pres Bush and Socialist Pres Obama: 2008 Stimulus Checks Stimulus checks were mailed out as follows: Individual taxpayers received up to $600.9 Married couples were eligible for up to $1,200. Households with children received $300 per dependent child. 2009 Stimulus Checks In 2009, the Economic Stimulus Act sent out $14.2 billion in stimulus checks.6 7 The one-time payment went to recipients of Social Security, Supplemental Security Income, veterans, and railroad retirees.
  14. Fake news. Also, handing out a stimulus check is much different than universal income - a socialist policy.
  15. Fake news much? No reference to the "millions of additional dollars" it cost. Strange. Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin said on Sunday that it was his idea to put President Trump's name on the stimulus checks being sent to Americans during the coronavirus pandemic. “We did put the president's name on the check,” he said during an appearance on CNN’s “State of The Union,” adding: “That was my idea. He is the president and I think it's a terrific symbol to the American public.”
  16. Can't stand when we go from winter to summer. Let's have at least a month of warm 70s and cool 50s @ night please!
  17. This is not feasible or mentally healthy for the public. Re-opening in the warmer months will be safer as more people spend time outdoors. There has to be a re-opening in phases, then containing hot spots.
  18. Paycheck growth was a strange quirk in the jobs report: More high-income earners stayed in their jobs than low-income workers, skewing the wage data higher. How much $ are those low-income workers making on unemployment now, compared to their working salaries?
  19. The POTUS was butchered over saying something similar. I for one am hoping to see this to be true - plus the added vitamin D from sunlight helps the immune system. Get outside people!
  20. The US addiction to cheap stuff is definitely a real issue. Agree China has challenges in the future, but I'd like to hear what you think about their investments and ownership in US 'interests'. What data are you looking at that shows US leading in science and innovation in 2016 and not now? Regarding universal healthcare, environment, renewables, etc... I'm all for that in a balanced, longer-term, affordable roll-out. Both sides push to the extremes and very few are willing to meet in the middle.
  21. The automation/tech piece is really interesting, I'm sure China has a 'plan' for that, unless they slow-play it on purpose. Curious. I agree with the low-end manufacturing jobs, but they will eventually try to get the higher-end stuff. Also, I'm concerned about how much they own our businesses, shares, bonds, treasury notes, etc. Many of us here probably have China owning 30-40% of our 401k savings. And let's not forget, China is essentially a modern-day Nazi-Germany in many ways - there's a reason why 50+% of adults in China smoke. Is this the government we want succeeding in the future?
  22. Just remember how we got into this problem with China in the first place - nothing to do with Pres Trump. We wouldn't need a POTUS to stand up to China otherwise. You may disagree with how it's done, but it needs to be done before China literally owns the US. I hope to see more standing up to China over the next 4 years.
  23. Haha, good to see more snow hounds on the site...bring it on, but give me sunny and 70 in-between.
