  1. Term limits would do the trick. 2 terms for Congress, 1 for Senate, keep 2 for Pres. The Judicial branch would balance it out. That would clean things up tremendously. That along with government-only sourced campaign dollars with limits would really stabilize things. The Founding Fathers never intended life-long careers for elected officials in the Exec and Leg branches.
  2. I'm not a fan of the yellow jackets that seems to nest like crazy in mid-summer and get nasty in late summer. Mean mothers when they're hungry and thirsty.
  3. It was, but not anymore. I get it, bad news about Covid everyday. Just tired of it - especially from the 'end of the world' perspective.
  4. Where has it been below average this summer? With all this persistent ridging, there has to be troughing somewhere.
  5. I just hope we have a nice, long, dry, and warm fall...
  6. Especially considering that 80/60 are the average high/low for ROC. We're hitting mid-80s daily and around 70 at night. That's brining up the average quite a bit.
  7. My guess is models are under calling its strengthening. Lower shear and very warm SSTs are usually a recipe for rapid strengthening. I say cat 2 at landfall, just east of NYC.
  8. Pretty true, most of the people opposing nuclear and the same ones pushing big climate change legislation.
  9. Environmentalists, clean energy companies (it's not just the hydrocarbon ones), and the politicians that cater to them. "Anyone seriously interested in preventing dangerous levels of global warming should be advocating nuclear power," wrote James Hansen in 2019.
  10. Nuclear is CLEARLY the best way to go at this point for everyone and the environment. Unbelievable we haven't moved much in that direction either.
  11. Great read and very true. Everyone in the government should complete a Belbin profile for some self - realization. Massive disconnect in our government is frightening. Much more than Delta.
  12. Yeah, seeing all the citizens running to the America planes to get the heck outta there is a sure sign of that. Sharia Law implementation will suck for just about everyone except those in power: public hangings, subordinate women, killing of all who oppose Islam, Western-hate propaganda, and 'educating' children to birth future terrorists. Just dandy.
  13. Agreed, but they current admin really screwed this withdrawal up, they even said they didn't believe the Taliban would do this just a couple months ago.
  14. Literally, in a week. Un-frickin believable. This is absolutely terrible and a huge fail for the current administration, but also the US as a whole - could have been a long time coming, but the ending was just sad.
  15. And in other news...Afghanistan has now been taken over by the Taliban in about 1 week. Unbelievable.
  16. Plus, the 'globe' isn't all in winter at the same time ;). Agree we're in much better shape than 1 year ago. Of course, if watching most of the media, one would think it was worse.
  17. The global average new cases are leveling off again. Hopefully in a couple weeks it will downtrend as we get through delta.
  18. I know, from experience, that all the colds, flus and other viruses that were almost non-existent over the past year due to social distancing, are coming back with force. It's very possible that they actually have RSV or influenza. We need to be careful not to blame Covid for every symptom as we move into the fall and winter months. I guarantee you the MSM will be blaming Covid on every stuffy nose to fear the public and get ratings. Edit: My kids are STILL clearing out from the parainfluenza virus (can cause croup) going around with kids this summer...very unusual to hit in July-Aug timeframe. Anyone could've called it Covid (started with sore throat, then fever for a couple days, then sinus craziness, now coughing), but they were tested and negative.
  19. Would be nice to get some rain here as we've got nothing over the past couple of days.
