It's as if this marginal thunderstorm is playing hopscotch - downpour and lightning was over there, to my west beyond the NY state line, and then suddenly it's blowing up over Canton, Simsbury and Avon to my east, with nothing in between.
I will be doing my part next week by running my new-ish portable air conditioner.
BTW, I was not paying close attention to the forecast, thinking that any rain would hold off until later this afternoon, and so I was taken by surprise to hear the heavy rain that moved in a short time ago.
Hoping that we still get some thunderstorm activity later on.
Just noticed that the WU forecast moved the anticipated onset of thunderstorms earlier by at least several hours - but it did so by extending the potential duration of the thunderstorm activity rather than by merely shifting it earlier.
So, perhaps there may be 'fun' times ahead, from early this afternoon through the evening hours.
Was expecting some lightning (because I got an alert from an app on my phone) only to discover that it was just a few isolated strikes in the Hartford area.
And we’re warned - radar showing an offshoot from the ENY storm fingering Litchfield County with fairly frequent lightning strikes shown on the map - still southwest of me at the moment in New Milford and no thunder heard yet.
Too close to sunrise to get really good lightning views here - the storm is pretty impressive on radar and not that far away, but have not yet even heard any thunder.
