  1. Best thunderstorm IMBY since the end of March Got a bit of everything but a nader (which I can do without). Hail size was pea (perfect size). Winds gust 30s/40s. Heavy Rain (visibility 1/2 mile) with total 3/4" (not flooding rains but I'll take it ). Lightning & Thunder. Excited considering most models missed MBY.
  2. It is summery here but not thick like northern Ohio. mid60 dews here while 70s in northern Ohio. Regardless the line is holding together and looks like it will get stronger.
  3. My guess would be Lenawee and Monroe / northern OH day. If things fire early then add Wayne / Washtenaw up to the thumb into it. I am likely to far west (based on majority of the models) and get to see some great cloud formations.
  4. Most models have it occurring to my south. If there is 2" hail I won't mind a miss!
  5. Models are all over the place for LM tomorrow with this system. Hopefully we get some good storms down this way.
  6. It has been an interesting growing season here but the past couple weeks with better rains have really helped. Hopefully yours will do well!
  7. Going to be great camping weather for me if that continues
  8. Glad most of it has blown out of here since morning.
  9. Just did a quick turn around trip from southern MI to southern MN and back. Saw some great storms (not the reason I did the trip but definitely a bonus). Really enjoyed the La Cross WI and Dakota MN area. Very beautiful area. I could see myself move there (can't right now but would definitely consider it). Worst for me the Chicago area. Traffic, accidents, congestion and too many buildings for me. So glad there are people who like it that way!! Next time I am going to pony up and pay for the ferry across Lake MI. I will plan to avoid driving near Chicago again!!! Keep in mind I don't go to Detroit either. Closest I get is Novi for work.
  10. Yeah these storms are moving fast. That's a good gust. Hopefully things get wets for points north as summer progresses
  11. Just drove all the way to Waseca MN today. Was driving around with those storms along the 14 between Rochester and Waseca. Way cool to see the full storm cell structure. Too many trees in MI. I was loving it today driving with these storms too play with I will say Rochester MN was the driest area on my drive between MI to MN. Couple parts in southern WI were a bit dry too. Southern MI, Northern IN and northern IL are very green now
  12. I drove right next to that lower cell today as it was developing. It was very cool!!
  13. Glad to see SW MI did well. As you can see so did the northern 1/2 of DTX. Unfortunately I was on the southern edge and the greater totals just to my north. It happens. Just a bit annoying as yesterday morning my forecast was 2-3" and even the evening update had 1-2" totals. Some models agreed with this forecast but others had it just to my north. I think NWS did great but unfortunately for me the further north models were correct.
  14. Got woken up to Warning and sirens. The cell was moving perfectly to MBY. Moved my cars away from trees. Sirens turn off. Looked at radar. Per NWS: Warning canceled as storm lost severe capabilities. Next the lightning stopped 3 miles from MBY. Winds maybe gusted to 5-10 MPH. Howell airport => 0.7" of rain. Flint airport => 2.5" of rain. Models that had this system north => correct. Others NG.
  15. Not looking like a solid line any more. Plus I love how the storms are now firing to my east. I can see lightning flash from them. Oh well time for bed.
  16. Looks like you won't be to disappointed for not driving home.
  17. We'll see but I have seen many lines fall apart or be a shadow of what they were as they get east of Lansing. Just hard to get excited when the past few hours were all modeled to be very active and all I have is 0.02" so far. I would take hours of plain heavy rain as opposed to a 5 minute storm with <1/4".
  18. At least you are getting the rain. Dry pavement here right now. Quick showers that feed the north rains is all I am getting. . I hate when DTX this morning had MBY as ground zero for the heavy rains ... Flint northward win this one. Maybe I can get a storm when the backend goes through. No holding my breath that is for sure.
  19. Same. I was very surprised. I was expecting the ring of fire to set up much further north. This is what makes the weather so much fun. Mother Nature don't care what the models say!!
  20. I would have gone but no way with my agenda the next 2 days. Couldn't have picked a worse time for me. Hopefully MBY does well tonight
  21. One of my favorite Thunderstorm occurred during an ice storm.
  22. Of course it's 2 counties to my south. Surprise level => 0%
