  1. A little over 4" on the ground here in Mansfield Center and ripping. Got to watch all the melts last night and enjoy this snow, a win win.
  2. It's definitely recent, within the last 5 years. My kids will be home tomorrow and probably won't even be able to go sledding... Sad
  3. Gotta get an underbody coat on in the fall
  4. 1 1/2 and dang if it ain't pretty
  5. Also, space heaters in a flooded basement? This guy can't be real
  6. Absolutely do not use flex seal to water proof your basement. I hope that guy was not being serious. There are only two ways to keep/get the water out. A correctly installed French drain that is backfilled correctly is the best. Obviously if you don't already have that then a quality sump is your only route unless you want to fork over a heap of cash to go digging around your whole house. Gutters with downspouts draining well away will help, everything else is a bandaid. Good luck.
  7. That is massive overkill but I bet you sleep well. I'm at 420' on top of a hill with 2x6 walls and I haven't blown over yet. Was on a framing crew a while back and we had to do some steel I beam construction as part of a 24' tall vaulted room over staffordville lake for wind load.
  8. Anywhere else but here please, don't need power outages
  9. Weak troll, if you're going for it you gotta go with short bus.
  10. Fair. Wild enough with all the brain donors driving around in their phones.
  11. I can sort of understand not liking snow but you don't like pedestrians? How do you feel about that rock and roll music?
  12. Doesn't the CIA already do this?
  13. 3 woodstoves? Man is committed. I went to just mini splits in my house. Power bill is a whopper in the winter but no oil bill and no mess in the house from wood.
  14. I have a Jotul Firelight I use to heat my shop. Burn about 3-4 cord a year but I blow a lot of hot air right out when I run my equipment. I am morally opposed to inserts as they lack the poetry and/or magic of either a woodstove or a true fireplace. Man has to draw a line somewhere.
  15. +1 for fans. you can get ones that will mount to the jamb of the entry ways up top. Also, look into an Ecofan. sits on top of your woodstove and runs on heat difference. Moves a surprising amount of air right from where it's the hottest. I point mine directly toward the weather station at ORH for maximum effect.
