Could be because the water is pretty toasty there at the moment and you can see circulation trying to get going down there.
-
After all was said and done yesterday, my final rain total was just a hundredth of an inch more after the main precip line came through, than what I had reported with the precursor stuff - total for the day of 0.22" (i.e., most of the storm associated with the front had fizzled as it approached and arrived in my area). It's currently 81 with dews in the mid-upper 60s (vs the 70s this time yesterday) so not as steam bath as yesterday, and partly sunny.
-
I can imagine trying to file a claim on that with the insurance company. At least there was video footage of that car flip.
-
Well the line held together enough to give me showers again and at a pretty moderate clip. But it steamed up the windows again. Temp is down to 80 w/dp 73. ETA am hearing thunder for the first time.
-
Looks like something is headed my way. Will see if it holds together but it is getting real dark here (they are warning for NE Philly, Eastern Montco, and Southern Bucks). It's currently 82 here with dp 70, so still juicy.
-
I've seen those wave clouds too (although not recently), which are pretty cool - especially if you are in a spot where you can see a long strip of them. And yeah, if you have trees all around, it can be hard to catch some of these unique clouds. If you are out at a mall or shopping strip and in a parking lot, you can often get a better view.

Nice. Am surprised you haven't seen mammatus around your area. I usually manage to randomly catch a glimpse of some maybe a few times a year if I happen to take the time to go outside when some storm cells are moving near or into my area or I am out somewhere and a gust front is coming soon.

I am seeing that a spotter reported a funnel cloud at Ocean Acres in Stafford Twp in Ocean Co, NJ (plus there are water rescues going on there). And whatever came through here to drop the temps down to the mid 70s is now long gone and I am back up to 86 again with dps in the lower 70s.
-
Meanwhile I guess some front came through because my temp is down to 77 and dp is down to the upper 60s. It's also partly sunny but still hazy.
-
I foolishly stepped outside into the sauna and ran back inside. Ended up with 0.06" out of that (so far). Temp is down to 86 but the dp is now up to 80.
-
I am finally under a microscopic dot that is giving me some rain. So far at 0.05" at post time. It had already hit 91 with 75 dp before the rain came in. Temp is down to 89 with a shower.
-
I've been watching the clusters headed that way and was hoping you would at least cash in on some of it... but apparently that ain't happening.
-
Yup and I watched one kernel of popcorn literally move from about 2 miles to my south to 1 mile to my east and then to about 4 miles to my northeast, all within the past 10 minutes. I could even see the dark clouds associated with it. It briefly hit 91 before dropping back to 88 while it was overcast during the popcorn miss... Sun is back out again though so I expect the temp to shoot back up again. Dp has been in the low 70s much of the time.
-
Dews were in the mid 70s earlier this morning steaming up the windows again with today's low so far of 75. Once the sun broke through the haze, the dp dropped a bit to 73 but not much difference in steam bath feel. Currently partly sunny and 86 already before 10 am.
-
Got nothing here either. Watched a small line work its way from SW -> NE through the city and it fizzled into virga as it came into my neighborhood, with the bulk of what was left focused in Montco. Didn't quite make it to 90 today (was 89) due to it being hazy and overcast most of the day and it is currently 79 and mostly cloudy with dp 68.
-
Temp made it up to 90 here yesterday just after 3 pm and during our bbq, we could hear thunder rumbling continually off in the distance and it really clouded over significantly. But I had been looking at the radar and most of the storms were running NW --> SE through Delco (I was in Montco yesterday), with a few cells a bit north of us. We never got any actual rain thankfully, although at one point it got pretty breezy as something must have been close by. Currently 78 and overcast, which I guess is keeping the temps from shooting up quickly like they did yesterday (where it hit 86 here before 9 am), with dp 68.
-
Just missed 90 yesterday with a high of 89 (sun was in an out due to occasional high clouds) and watched storms miss me to the north and south literally by a few miles. But those storms added some serious moisture into the air and the dp is up to 72 now and steaming up the windows. Current temp is 73 with sunrise about 15 minutes away.

My mom would have been 89 this year but her younger sister will be 84 in a couple months. God bless your generation! Actually made it up to 85 yesterday and the dews stayed below 60 so a really nice day. Today is a different story where the dp is @ 63 and slowly climbing with a temp of 91. Have been seeing on and off cirrus clouds overhead earlier today but now the cumulus is coming in from the south and it's getting a little hazy, but still mostly sunny. Summer = lightning bugs, crickets, cicadas, and katydids for sure!
-
That Canadian high meant some business and dropped me down overnight to a low of 62. It did recover quickly though and it's currently 83 and gorgeous out!
-
Looks like it's about done and the sun is trying to pop out to the west. Ended up with 0.14" rain from that. Glad a I deep watered early this morning. lol It did drop the temp down to 69 so that's pretty amazing.
-
Looks like it was falling apart as it came over here in NW Philly. Must have hit the hills here and got disrupted. Have had some occasional thunder but am not seeing any lightning. Winds have been gusty but not excessive and the rain has been more garden-variety thundershower, not gully washer. Currently at 0.08" of rain so far. Temp is down to 79.
-
Gust front has been coming through and got some mammatus clouds and greenage preceding that. Temp has dropped down to 86 with the winds...
-
Made it up to 93 earlier (not as hot as yesterday but higher dp) but the overcast has dropped the temp down to 89 now. Will be hitting here shortly.
