Central Pa. Summer 2024
Mount Joy Snowman replied to mahantango#1's topic in Upstate New York/Pennsylvania
I actually mowed yesterday for the first time in ages. Damn nut grass gets like a foot high. I did probably 75% of the yard and of that only a fraction actually needed it, just easier to go over it all and get the random summer weeds too. Things are dire ha.- 6,666 replies

Low of 67. Currently 71/66 under cloudy skies. I’m alone with the toddlers for the next five days. For the second time this week, I ask that you pray for me ha.- 6,666 replies

Low of 59, wasn’t quite expecting that. Currently 61/57 and gorgeous out. All types of stuff seems to be down due to this global Microsoft issue. Hopefully resolved soon. Happy Friday, all.- 6,666 replies

The WU station at the airport near year recorded .5" in 10 minutes ~5:30 and then measured another .5" in only 5 minutes ~6:20. Insane rates, about as heavy as it gets around here. Congrats!- 6,666 replies

Low of 69 with .11" of total rainfall and a body that can barely move. .69" MTD and 25.23" YTD. MDT now running as warmest July of all-time with a mean temp of 81.8. National high of 121 at Death Valley and low of 33 near Mackay, ID. My forecast seems to have come down a bit for the next week so I guess that's good. Onward.- 6,666 replies

Just got home from the Harrisburg Mile and very disappointed to see only ~.1” in the gauge. On the other hand, very not disappointed in running a 7:06 in what was the first race I have ever run in my adult life. We got dumped on right as our age group heat started too. All in all, it was a cool experience. I’m sore as a whore but very proud of myself.- 6,666 replies

All good here. We were at a happy hour for a friend’s surprise Bday party when the storm hit. It blew around some umbrellas outside but nothing too crazy. No real damage in our neighborhood either, but a beautiful line that rolled through! Looks like about a half inch. MUCH needed.- 6,666 replies

These days there is no getting home early. Amtrak is doing track work between Lancaster and Harrisburg, and as a result, all midday trains are canceled. They provide bus service instead, which absolutely no one utilizes haha. 4:25 is the earliest train I can take home. Normal full service is slated to return in November, perhaps earlier, as I've heard they are ahead of schedule. Amtrak being ahead of schedule on anything would be a first for them ha.- 6,666 replies

JNS, it takes one to know one, so tell me, where did you study your Statistics? Mine was at Penn state, where I also tutored Stats courses, but that was many moons ago and I'm losing my touch with every passing year. I've been impressed with your statistical knowledge displayed on this board.- 6,666 replies

Yes. I've been hammering this point recently. I'm not sure why but I just know that over the years I've always noticed big differences between PWS DPs and the official stations. Even more so than temp discrepancies.- 6,666 replies

I was just going to say that I don't think I saw that mentioned anywhere. Kind of snuck up on us. Today's record of 104 is probably out of reach, although the latest HRRR still wants to throw up a 103 at MDT. It's been pretty consistent with that. We shall see. Off to the races.- 6,666 replies
