  1. How warm did you get on those days right around the New Year?
  2. Saw that haha. Average that out with the GFS and we are in business.
  3. Yeah it caught me a bit off-guard as well. To be honest, I'm not sure what the forecast was calling for but I wasn't expecting to see a reading in the teens.
  4. I bottomed out at 19 last night. A bit of an unusual suspect has been showing up as the national low temp the last couple of days, that being the high-elevation cold sink of Angel Fire, NM.
  5. Well, per 0z the American, the Canadian, and the Brit all give us some form of accumulating snow on Super Bowl Sunday from the interaction of the frontal boundary with the coastal low. Waiting for the EU to come on board but she's not too far off. Developing......
  6. Curious if anyone on the board has had less seasonal snowfall than me so far? I'm at 8.9".
  7. I had a mixture of some very light sleet and drizzle last evening -- let's call it slizzle -- before dropping to 26 last night and waking up to some slick surfaces this morning. Beautiful week ahead.
  8. The culprit is a narrow but quite dry layer around 900mb.
  9. Neither have I and I've lived in Lancaster County my entire life. I'll get there eventually, got to clog a few more arteries.
  10. Don't sell yourself short. I'm only famous for being able to write-in all 67 PA counties on a blank map haha. You know, I heard there was a nice surprise dusting across parts of Lancaster but not so much as a flake here on the western side of the county. Congrats!
  11. Ding ding ding we have a winner! Wow that went faster than I thought it would. Should have known the sleuths on this board would solve it quickly. But yes Shasta indeed, one of the most majestic mountains anywhere for my money. Great job TimB! I'll send you that nickel ASAP
  12. So, since it appears we are in for a rather mundane week of weather, I thought we'd play a little game. I have a nice shiny nickel for the person who can tell me what mountain is pictured in my profile pic. Your one and only hint is that it resides in the United States of America. No cheating with whatever high tech image search crap is available haha. Board bragging rights on the line, let's hear it!
  13. Damn, a lot of this post hit home. I still love baseball and will always call it my first love, but not the way I did back in my youth. I didn't travel the way you did but I had a massive card collection and knew every player in the league. Nothing was better than the baseball All Star game or the Fall Classic, and now they seem to be losing more and more steam every year. I know football kind of takes the life out of everything with how dominant it has become but baseball will always be our nation's pastime in my eyes and it's sad what's happening to it.
  14. Low of 13 here but up to 18 now. Should be a pretty pleasant day. Not much on the docket in the days ahead.
  15. Oh yeah don’t I know it. It can be a cruel game watching those streamers dry up over the mountains.
  16. Great post. I also went to Penn State and have friends with a cabin in Julian, just north of Port Matilda. This is all spot on.
  17. Ugh hate to hear that. The wife and I haven’t started this season yet but were really looking forward to it. We’ve been caught up in the Netflix series Peaky Blinders. Real good.
  18. It really is amazing how much different it is when you get up in the plateau region. My official event total: 1.38” rain and a Trace of sleet. Now it is time for whiskey and Penn State wrestling.
  19. Looks like that stubborn warm layer ~800mb across the norther tier that I mentioned yesterday came to fruition, as snow totals up around Tioga/Potter seemed to underperform.
  20. Well what do you know!? Looks like we are going to see a touch of winter out of this after all haha. Last little band pushing through and sure enough it’s a nice moderate to heavy sleet shower.
  21. Yep, been my expectation all along. The signs were pretty clearly pointing towards a non-event down this way.
