  1. Humidity is up from yesterday and it’s already that filtered hazy sunshine imby, so maybe not just at the airport.
  2. My grandparents lived in Altoona and used to take me to the park formerly known as Bland’s Park when I was a kid. They didn’t have the water park or the excessively shameless Italian branding back then.
  3. ...RECORD HIGH TEMPERATURE SET AT DUBOIS PA... A RECORD HIGH TEMPERATURE OF 91 DEGREES WAS SET AT DUBOIS PA TODAY. THIS BREAKS THE OLD RECORD OF 89 DEGREES SET IN 1994.
  4. A little bit south and it was seemingly all outflow. Lots of branches down from the wind but hardly any rain and a ~25 degree temp drop. Was worried the dog wouldn’t get a walk this afternoon but this is fantastic weather for that.
  5. Not raining imby but wind has been gusting hard. Text of the warning would indicate that wind damage is occurring.
  6. Some of these storms rolling in look pretty nasty on radar. Let’s hope the power stays on.
  7. A little after 11am in mid-June and it’s already warmer at PIT than it was at any point during 2004.
  8. Anyway, plenty of opportunities for extreme heat this week and beyond. Seeing plenty of evidence that the heat simply reloads later in week 2 after a short break.
  9. So what you’re saying is, we may not have hit 100 in 1995 and maybe not even in 1988 with current ASOS technology? That if we had the current ASOS in place at its current location, it’s entirely possible that the location where Pittsburgh International is has never reached 100 degrees in the history of the city’s existence?
  10. “Hot and human” temperatures. So you’re forecasting a high of 98.6?
  11. When it really comes down to it, I agree. It would be foolish to expect temps to be maxed out during a heat wave without any convection or clouds to gum up the works, which it seems the models have picked up on, even if NWS is a little hesitant to buy into.
  12. That whole forecast discussion is surreal. Never seen anything like that.
  13. Models do seem to have backed off slightly with the extreme, eye popping numbers pushing 100.
  14. Oof, Pittsburgh might stay completely dry today.
  15. Just remember in perspective that not getting to 95 is a win in reality, even if it’d be exciting to see the big numbers.
  16. I seem to recall a heat wave in 2016(?) that was hyped with upper 90s in the forecast and then we officially topped out in the low 90s a couple days. But that wasn’t a weeklong gates of hell kind of thing.
  17. 0z operational Euro is completely off the rails and can probably be thrown out, as it shows the heat intensifying into the weekend, with all time record highs being challenged just about everywhere.
  18. iOS app dropped temps a little, with only one day in the mid 90s but I’m not really seeing the data to support that. For one, the EPS ensemble mean is sitting between 94 and 96 at 18z every day from Monday-Saturday.
  19. NWS point and click is up to 95-96-96 at the airport and 98-99-99 downtown for the first three days of the workweek.
