  1. An immense amount of rain fell in east tn/swva tonight. With whats coming next week I fear major flood concerns similar to what has already occurred winter on the nolichucky. Really hope the rainfall totals are over done on the models.
  2. 12z cmc has some areas in Tennessee valley snowing for 30 plus hours!
  3. I am sure nobody will be looking at the 12z suite :). This feels like something big is brewing for somebody in the southeast. I'll be interested to see how the models hone in on timing, 6z gfs sees it starting 18z thursday, last night cmc had it Tuesday midnight.
  4. I wish I could bet money on the cmc sniffing this out. It's crazy to think we are basically 5 days out from this event.
  5. Dissapointing here in Tri but really appreciate all the disco provided. Sure seems like the RGEM is money in meso world. I don't have validation scores at hand but it really seems to nail the short horizon once it locks in on a trend.
  6. One battle that is brewing is cmc vs gfs, which at this point is prolly a fruitless endeavor, but man they are miles apart at 0z on qpf.
  7. 12/18z Nam and 12z gfs killer runs for east tn. Hopefully happy hour gfs agrees
  8. John, how the heck do you stay awake for like 72 hours at a time?
  9. Looks like some decent returns showing up in Hawkins County moving back in to Sullivan.
  10. Has been pixie dusting snow in Wise (swva) all morning. It doesn't show up but on the most sensitive radars. More visible returns in east ky. No real snow melt up here and I don't think there will be much.
  11. GFS big dog run for the forum when Kuchera
  12. Totally shocked this a.m. to see about an inch in kingsport
  13. Hard to beat the track of the 0z cmc and 0z gfs for east tennessee, even if models are showing slightly lessening qpf at the moment.
  14. Shew, hard to imagine that NAM run would not have been widespread 6-12 per visual duration left..
  15. The cold leading up to this event is pretty stellar, check out Wise, va..barely making it to 25 degrees, won't be a wasted flake on that ground.
  16. The 12z gfs snow axis pretty spot on with where the RGEM is at the end of its run.
  17. Nam 12km res has been honking at that for days, I bet the ski resorts are loving this.
  18. I thought we had er, came in alot flatter 18z. Close!
  19. Thanks, we are heading up to Pittsburg tomorrow, swinging east from there. Hope to backdoor into buffalo midday Saturday. No way in heck we are driving to the game as we will Uber or whatever the best method is to get to the stadium (staying in downtown). Seeing a bills game in lake effect snow is a bucket lister!
  20. Hey folks, I mostly post in the tennessee valley thread, been a member here for years. Car load of guys loading up to head to bills game from Tennessee, we are trying to swing east and enter buffalo from geneova-batavia angle. We have an all wheel drive vehicle. Do we have a prayer ha? I am guessing the 3.4 inches falling in Batavia over 3 days is nothing to you guys, and the roads will be solid. Buffalo city center seems mildly hit with things rapidily getting worse to the south. Thanks for any thoughts you may have.
  21. Not sure how an insurance company could ever stay in business with exposure to the rapid intense gulf hurricanes that are getting to be commonplace. State Farm pulled out of Florida like 20 years ago, they would be wise considering other drastic measures. None of them are very profitable enterprises right now. I think Progressive finally got back in the black after 2 or 3 years of loses.
  22. Have to imagine this has been one the warmest March starts on record, are we averging plus 7-10 on temps for March thus far?
  23. Seems like Wise, VA ought to be a good place to better understand long term winter patterns, a place purportedly averaging 50 plus inches of snow and isn't dependent on one or 2 storm tracks to make or break snow totals. When a place averages 8 inches a year it can be fickle, but when you avg 50 inches and your ending up in 20s or less it tends to stick out.
  24. I loosely watched radar returns at both SS and Beech, it looked like Beech had more and better returns. I haven't heard anyone gawking at SS aftermath. I watched it unfold at the base of Sugar, man it was magical 48 hrs. Skied Friday until the bitter cold got the best of me.
