  1. Still snowing in Racine! I have no way to accurately measure this stuff now but I think it’s safe to say it’s over a foot of fresh stuff and still coming down (1-3 more in per the AFD). I really never thought I’d be getting higher snow totals here than most of cook county. What an absolute dump fest. This turned out to be one of my all time favorite snowfalls. What a delightful surprise. I’ll grab a few pictures in a bit. I am officially satisfied with winter. Bring on the nadoes! Guess I won’t be grilling on my deck today.
  2. I can’t express how giddy I am right now. I was hoping to get a few inches out of this and expected the LE to stay south of here, but I’ve had a band over my roof since it started. This will likely be my biggest snowfall of the season (so far?). I guess I’ll sleep tomorrow night.
  3. Past 90min up here in Racine. Sorry for the vertical.
  4. Getting absolutely slammed up here in Racine. Estimating 3in in the past 90min. Just 48hrs ago all I was hoping for was a few inches. This pleases me.
  5. My view of Lake Michigan looking toward Chicago from Racine. This is way more impressive in person. Really incredible. So primed!
  6. Up here in Racine, WI I’ve been watching the LE snow out there in the distance. You can’t see it from the video and pictures don’t show it, but steam has been steadily rising off the lake all day. She’s primed and ready Chicago.
  7. Managed to accumulate about 3in here in Racine near the lake and it’s still coming down moderately. A nice little surprise with no advisory and the AFDs were only calling for 1-2in. Love this fluffy stuff. (Ignore the Rick & Morty audio in the background lol)
  8. Lake Michigan freezing up fast here in SE Wisconsin. This is the first day it’s been solid.
  9. You’re not wrong. The plows will probably make one more pass so I’m hoping they will push the snow closer to or off the curb. That side is significantly more packed than the other side and it’s half slush on the street. Even if I cut the corner on the driveway she still can’t reach the box. If the plows don’t come by again I’ll clear it myself but hopefully a plow can do it in 2 seconds then I can do the finishing touches.
  10. Finally got the driveway clear. Glad I splurged on an Ariens 2 stage blower this fall! Really tough to get accurate measurements here due to all the drifting but I’d guesstimate 10in here just south of Racine, WI on the lakefront. Thank you old man winter! Come back soon! before: After
  11. The situation with my driveway continues to deteriorate. I’m not complaining, just not sure how I’m going to handle this mess lol
  12. Same up here in the Kenosha/Racine area. Lake Michigan is my backyard. Getting some large drifts already. This is the end of my driveway right now and we’re just getting started. I am thoroughly enjoying myself.
  13. The lake is angry here in SE Wisconsin. No measurements but I’d estimate 30mph sustained winds on the direct lakefront. video: https://imgur.com/gallery/aeERmUj
  14. MKE already has, albeit not by much. Went from 5-9 for the far SE counties to 7-10. LOT also working in this so wording on the latest AFD: For an additional tweak from the previous forecast, based off very consistent ensemble probabilities and ingredients lining up for high QPF and heavy snow into portions of northern Illinois and northwest Indiana this evening, confidence has increased in a swath of 8"+ amounts, including interior portions of the city of Chicago. Don’t think they will change amounts (at least not much) but confidence does seem to be growing that we could see some local amounts approaching or maybe exceeding double digits. Wait and see now.
  15. Tom Skilling already mentioning this system in this evenings forecast. Good enough for me, lock it in. https://wgntv.com/weather/winter-storm-warning-issued-for-monday-afternoon-as-4-to-8-inches-of-heavy-snow-possible-in-chicago-area/
  16. Surprised advisories haven’t gone out in Kenosha/Racine counties yet but the snow cutoff is not making it an easy forecast here with models bouncing north and south. I’m not too confident in much LE as I think most of that will stay down toward the Lake and Cook county areas. Really, I just want to be included, even if I’m the kid who gets picked last in gym class.
