  1. Just looked outside and have some flurries flying, first of the season...30.9 atm
  2. Read an article that said to leave the leaves on the ground. Gives the insects a place to hibernate. Ah, no. yeah, I hear ticks love to have warm and cozy places to sleep....I remove all leaves and cut the grass extra short at the end of the year, everything you are not suppose to do, but no ticks>green grass
  3. Thats good to hear, hopefully the trend continues...I saw this morning that the AO continues to push negative, more a positive PNA and even a hint of a -NAO (obviously voodoo at this point) but at least it is something. It would be nice to see something the first week of December for the first time in 15 years?!?!
  4. Wasting cold air in early November, sadly it might be our coldest air until January/February... The second half of November and most of December look pretty fairly warm. I can see why some are panicking already, writing off December already.
  5. Thanks....down to 39, she has a nice ice cream treat waiting for her if she gets it!
  6. I had my kids pick on October 15th the dates of the first snowflakes and the first inch of snow measured....Today was my daughter's pick for the first flakes of the season, hoping for her sake we can at least see a few mangled flakes mixed in. Not bad for an 8 year old....
  7. Besides the snow talk, are the temperatures even realistic on the 18z GFS? It has 850 temps near -19°C on Wednesday! Kinda nuts for November 13th....
  8. Front just went through here....46 to 41 in 10 minutes with gusty winds, hoping to see the first flakes of the season!
  9. knowing what it was showing for our FROPA today in that 4-5 day time frame, I will take its current look...It looked as though the cold was pressing further south and east around day 4, onto 0z....
  10. At least the GFS solution sort of makes sense at this point. Nothing historical, just a light to moderate snow event for the middle of November....
  11. For what ever reason, the 6z and 18z Euro runs were flatter early on. I wonder if there has been any accuracy tests against its own 0z and 12z runs. They definitely seemed to contradict eachother with this particular system...
  12. I think someone pointed out a day or 2 ago that the Ukie was really flat while the Euro was dumping 1-2 feet of snow up north with a "deepening" low pressure...That really might be a good sign that the Euro is out to lunch despite it's own ensemble support? Obviously it won't happen every time, but something to store away for later on.... Obviously we still have a couple days to go, but it seems more FROPA at this point....
  13. GFS cold bias giving hope where there is none? If this is true, it is going to wreak havoc this winter in borderline situations...
  14. My wife works in Tarrytown, right off of Sawmill. I had her leave 1 hour before the snow started....Some of her co-workers ended up spending the night or were stuck for hours on the highway.
  15. Perfectly clear day causes nightmares on 84..Looks like winter around here now, so lets get some early snowfall as long as it doesn't jinx us the rest of the season.
  16. I am 18 miles almost due north from Bridgeport and I pulled off 35ish inches last year....amazing how much of a difference such a short distance makes around here!
  17. 27.7, 27.6, and 26.4 this morning three days in a row here as well...Most of the leaves are gone now too so it definitely has that winter look and feel.
  18. 36.0 here, radiating well so far...
  19. It was more in jest, but good know. Definitely don't want any bad luck with this winter. Last year was a bit painful after having 8 inches on November 15th only to hobble our way to another 25ish inches the rest of the season....
  20. It worked last year...just as long as it is less than 6 inches we should be good!
  21. 27.7, first 20s of the season here....last October featured 4 nights in the mid 20s despite the entire month's torch. Crazy that this year waited until November to get there.....
  22. 36.8 already...first night below 30 incoming it seems.
  23. And then the EURO with a 985 mb straight through the Great lakes...at least now we can all see the EURO when it crushes all hope this winter.
  24. Lol, It snows for over 48 hrs straight around the area once it gets here....I guess it does show there is some potential if that cold is for real next weekend.
  25. The GFS at hour 240 looks nice, too bad it is the GFS.....at 240.....
