  1. Did you hear Hyde selling him as an extra bat last night? He was making all of those switches and mentioned that they were 7 spots from the DH, which they subbed out. Flaherty would have batted if necessary since he batted in the past and was decent for a pitcher.
  2. He has had issues almost every year going back to college. It's a shame that this had to happen before he gets his due.
  3. Prayers for those affected by the earthquake in Morocco.
  4. The flight Path to BWI from the west usually takes the flights from here to about 5 miles north towards Taylorsville as the approach the area to land at BWI. It makes sense that it is plane related, but so odd, almost like a plane carved that specific cloud right in half.
  5. Does this look like a contrail shadow on the thin cloud layer, or could the Jet have "dissected" the cloud. If you zoom in, it really doesn't seem to be a shadow. Any way...I thought it was interesting and would share.
  6. I think the trough is weakening, which might allow it to move closer to the coast. I am no expert, but that is what I gathered from the run.
  7. Supposed to have mine installed as well, but they asked to push back a few days. Looks like now it won't be until next week.
  8. I remember sweating our a$$e$ off in elementary and middle school. They would open the large windows in the old buildings if the wood panes didn't stick, but all that did was let the flies come in and bother us. We also had a 2nd recess back then, maybe to get the stink out of the classroom for a little bit.....:-)
  9. I watered the flowers about an hour ago as well :-)
  10. Saw the strokes with the Chili Peppers this spring. My daughter is an older soul and loves that music.
  11. Dropped #2 off last night. Luckily he is at Towson University, but still miss him. :-( #3 (my baby)is going to Drexel and they have classes on a quarter term, so I get 3 more weeks of her before she has to go. Going to be very quiet here this year.
  12. Agreed. I have teammates in Phoenix and Austin and consistently hear about the heat. The peeps from Omaha and St. Louis also occasionally have been hit. We have had a very bland summer and should be happy for it. On another note, it is a great time to have a broken air conditioner unit. The kids are all going away to school and I have a portable room unit i can use for the bedroom until I get it fixed. :-) Am not looking to shell out tons of cash yet for a new unit.
  13. If you are still there over the weekend, you should try to find a local pub and watch a premier league game since this is the opening weekend for the season.
  14. You are correct, Houston is a really strong team with a lot of experience too.. Maybe I had a bad day yesterday, but just had a bad feeling after giving all of those runs up late in both games. I know that Bautista will recover, but it seems like the middle relievers are just walking way too many batters in the past few weeks and that is concerning. I also hope they don't play down to their opponents level with some of the weaker teams coming up on the schedule.
  15. Can we blame Angelos, or is this just the law of averages working it's way out?
  16. I can't explain how embarrassing this is to the whole organization. Kevin Brown was reporting factual information everyone can look up. The other issue here is that that segment was produced, not just an off comment made on the air. There was a graphic and more than likely it was part of the story line for the series in Tampa. I really hope this isn't another Jon Miller debacle. Sports team owners need to just need to put the money up and sit back. Heck it isn't even his money....
  17. Sorry to hear that. I'm on the north side of town and still have power. I could hear the initial gust come in and it was moving.

  19. Have fun! I'm headed to Fed Ex field to watch the 2 EPL preseason games.
  20. Cowser? The team definitely has the next man up mentality, so they should be fine. How long is Hicks out for, I thought it was only a cramping issue.
  21. I do like the nice fine they gave him on the way out the door. Odds he takes them to court?
  22. Went to the game yesterday and it is a great feeling to not worry when going down 2-0 in the top of the first. This team has so much drive and they never quit. A much different face of the franchise than before last year. It's refreshing to see.
  23. things would have been different if Hicks didn't misplay that fly ball. I knew he thought that he was closer to the wall, but but he didn't need to jump to catch it.
  24. I'm really enjoying the the read on the swim teams and am happy to see that all of kid's sports are a mess and not just the ones my kids participated in. I can tell that you all are in it for the right reasons and your children will be better because of it. The sad thing is that so many people put a focus on succeeding in sports over the benefits of learning how to work hard and be part of a team. Realistically, there is no career path for almost all of these kids within their selected sport and it makes me sad to see that this attitude exists. Even if you are able to play a sport in college, there is a good chance that you won't play a lot , especially in your first year or two. I have seen so many of my children's friends go to a school for a sport and lose interest after freshman year. Every time I hear you all talk about the snootiness of some of the upper clubs, I think of one of my favorite episodes of an older British comedy I'm posting a pic from. FOr those of you who remember the show, enjoy....."I've got a Porsche"
