  1. Where heavy showers move continuously over the same area for a period of time. It resembles a slow moving freight train and usually cause flooding issues.
  2. agree...when it happened to me as I mentioned above, the water was clear as came in. I know my expanding foam solution I uses wasn't the best one, but It worked for as long as we lived there...and as a 25 year old, I didn't have foresight to worry about the folks we eventually sold the house to.
  3. Those alarms are a godsend! I didn't have them when my water heater went up, but luckily i noticed that the water wasn't getting hot and went down and shut it off when I saw the heater leaking. :-) If there is an issue with the line coming in, They might have to dig up the ground where the water enters the house and check to see why the water is following the pipe down the conduit.
  4. I would hope that it was brass or steel coming into the house to handle the pressure before it hits the pressure regulator.
  5. I had the same problem in my first townhome. There water which came into the house from the street entered through some a conduit (i can't remember if it was pvc or steel) and I recall it leaking after Floyd. I used some of the foam filler and it took care of the problem, but that was back in the 90s and we sold it 2 years later (without more leaking).
  6. My SIL lived there for 4 years before the 2010 quake as part of her job with USAID. She is pretty upset about this because she knows all to well about how the infrastructure down there is set up and what wasn't fixed from the last quake. i really don't get a good feeling about this one and hope for the best.
  7. Really Cool. I've never seen that many at once. ANyone have an idea of what types of birds they are?
  8. Looking forward to my daughters softball practice at 5:30. I'm stepping up as an assistant coach this year and am just dreading that tonight.
  9. Look at the map in the article., It states that eggs can laid on vehicles and transported to other locations. Looks like they went for a ride right out the Pa. Turnpike and down 81.....
  10. They were coming over Mount Airy as well. I had fun seeing where they were coming from on Flight Radar 24.
  11. I saw a post about it possibly being related to insecticides used to keep the cicadas away. I'm not saying that is confirmed or 100% accurate, I do recall seeing that last week.
  12. Thanks! I'm looking into this right now. I'll let you know how it goes.
  13. Anyone ever had to shop for a stairlift for a parent/older relative? My MIL is looking for one and the company which came in with an estimate was at $10K for one which curves around a landing and $7500 for two straight ones which meet on a landing. Wanted to see if these were outrageous prices or not.
  14. Down in Short Pump for daughter's softball tournament. It's really nice down here. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
  15. I've watched Wonder Woman and Soul and will probably watch Space Jam. I liked it.....and having a 144 inch projector screen to watch on does make the experience better.
  16. Just saw that the Women's Triathalon Bronze Medal was won by a woman who went to North Carroll High School! Proud of Katie Zaferes!
  17. trying to get to pismo beach? :-) Bugs Bunny was the best.
  18. I'll have 2 away at college this year and am looking forward to getting the wife who teaches and daughter back in school. I'm working from home permanently now, which I'm still adjusting to and the quiet makes it easier to focus.
  19. I only recall traffic flow right by the exit at the stadium, but I don't see why they wouldn't let those who are parked closer to the arena to leave from the "backdoor" onto Park avenue. You probably could call an ask in order to plan ahead. I do think that since the park stays open later now, the issue was with park traffic and concert traffic leaving at the same time....causing a cluster.
  20. My wife took my daughter to see Taylor Swift there and it took about 2 hours to get out of the lot. Since then we have been season pass members for the park and would go up for the day during a concert event and be able to park right by the stadium. Last time we left during the last encore song, could still hear the song as we were driving away and were out in less than a minute. If you want to go that route, google the setlist for the GNR tour and you will get a sense of what is playing that night and the order they will play itm and you can anticipate the encore and jet as it starts. :-)
  21. That is one of Michael Keaton's best lines ever...and he has a lot.
  22. I think @mappy is on the eastern shore today. She should be prime though for storms down in Salisbury though......:-)
  23. Same in my house. 4 of us are feeling as if allergy season is back. I know it sounds odd, but I was wondering if maybe the trees were causing allergies again because to the cicada damage.
  24. Here too along the I-70 corridor.
  25. It's amazing at how ignorant some people are. I really hope that others didn't get in trouble after you left, but I bet many tried to cross through the water.
