Skies have cleared here. This is the clearest they have been in weeks. No smoke, and lower humidity.

Thanks for the kind words everyone. It has been tough beyond words. Today's skies are very heavily smoked out. You can smell it even. The 26th and 28th brought much needed rain, but still well behind overall.

Haven't been around in a while. Lost my youngest son, Daniel(26) back on the 16th. Very trying time for me and my family. Starting to get back to a little bit of normalcy. That being said, looks like more storms moving through today. Already some svr weather west of me this morning.

We had some pretty vigorous storms on the eve of the 26th. Hail up to 3" was reported and power was out for about 4 hours. Winds only hit in the 50 mph range, but it was the most dangerous weather of the summer so far in my area.

While the storms have gotten ferocious south of me in Iowa, temps peaked in the upper 60's to around 70 here by mid-day then have been slowly dropping all aftrn into the low 60's on a stiff Lake breeze. Back to the heat this weekend with upper 80's - low 90's forecast. Stay safe folks!!

Upper 70's with a nice Lake breeze and still smoky today. Should clear out some tomorrow as front moves in.

Low 80's with very smoky skies. Even last night, the smoke was thick up there. Edit: Added sat photo. You can see how much there is across MN.

Hazy skies today with high level smoke from Canada, but weather is still real nice in the 70's. Heritage Days here in Two Harbors is going well. Parade this aftrn is the highlight of the day. Getting back to normal around here is good to see. Still some top 5 chill this morning around the region, but not like the last couple a.m.'s. Cooler than normal, but not frosty.

Ok, here's what I'm thinking for Labor Day weekend. Rather unsettled weather with these fronts moving through Sat into Sunday, and turning colder starting Sunday into Monday.

Cool, but nice today. Easterly breeze keeping temps in the mid 60's. Chilly this morning with temps in the upper 40's-low 50's. Another chill tomorrow morn looks to be top 5 for some with patchy frost possible.

Highs in the low 70's last night started decreasing to mid-upper 50's by midday with a soaking rain . Around a half inch so far. What a change from the weekend.

Storms last night were nothing special, but still picked up some needed rain (0.12" arpt, 0.21" in town). They came about an hour after the fireworks. Duluth saw 87 (tied 5th) on the 3rd with 92 (2nd) for the 4th. Another top 5 temp coming today before the dramatic cool down tomorrow with rain. Smoky this morning with CA fires sending smoke (could even smell it) on the NW wind. Air quality alert was issued for today. Pretty good now, tho.

Looks like nature is going to provide the celebratory works this evening. If we cancel fireworks, they will do them next weekend as a part of our annual Heritage Days celebration.

I have yet to get one. Haven't been able to, and I see people have trouble with them in general these days in the reviews. Tell me how it goes with your new purchase.

We've had a real hazy sky for a couple days now. Along with lots of cirrus. You can barely see them. Never dawned on me that it might me smoke. Been busy with other stuff.

Mid to upper 80's currently around here with dews in the mid 60's. Air is a little heavy with 10mph breeze from the SW. Juice for tomorrows storms.

Have a look at the extreme hot/cool weather for July 4th. I think we'll be in between these this year.
