It gets better as summer moves along. Water temps will rise, and it's much warmer away from the shoreline. MUCH warmer.

That's right on the lake shore with a NE wind. Yeah, lake is chilly.

Next is Senior Citizen's day on Aug 21. Again, looking similar to Friendship day with warmer weather and storms.

Adding a couple more forecasts for August. Next up is Friendship Day on Aug 7. Looking rather warm, with storms, especially for the western sub.

Going to miss that here as Lake Superior will keep the heat in check. Still rather toasty further west and especially south of me. Even today has some rather hot weather away from the lake, and again to the south. The lake is still pretty cool after that harsh winter we had, so it's helping. Natural A/C.

Prelim data in for May. On the warm side this year. Spring overall ended average. (added anom map for Spring) Note: Prelim data is typically within 0.5K of the final average for the month. I'm expecting an uptick in current value after the other datasets report. It was very warm east of the Mississippi, but my coordinates take in some area to the west of that where it wasn't as warm. And my baseline is different than what anom maps are showing using 1991-2020.

Really pleasant weather on tap for the next few days. Seasonably cool, but nice. Possibly shower/stm in the mix, but not much. After 5+" of rain here in town last month, a little break from the rain will be nice. Last year was pretty warm, not this time around.

West-central part of the state has been hit pretty good. Up to golf ball sized hail in the mix, too.

Tornado watches up for MN. Rough weather developing in the central part of the state. At 502 PM CDT, a large and extremely dangerous tornado was located over Eagle Bend, or 23 miles northeast of Alexandria, moving northeast at 55 mph. This is a PARTICULARLY DANGEROUS SITUATION. TAKE COVER NOW! HAZARD...Damaging tornado. SOURCE...Radar indicated rotation.

I have a forecast for later in July on Parent's Day (24th). Looks like a front moving in with very warm temps ahead, and showers/storms on tap for the western areas of the sub.

So-so forecast. The wet weather will be confined to the west areas of the sub, and the northern areas will be on the cooler side today. So most of the sub will be in good shape for a very nice Memorial weekend. Enjoy everyone

A shock to the system after all the very warm weather you guys have been having.

Stretch of chilly weather on tap for the next few days. Highs in the upper 40's - low 50's this weekend with low 30's (probably upper 20's for some) for the mornings. Frost advisories will be up through the weekend. With another 1/4" of rain yesterday, and the day before, we continue to have flooding up in the border country. Rainy River basin is very full, and lake/river levels are headed toward record breaking levels set back in 2014.

Svr watch went up. Nice line of stms moving in. Could get a little frisky.

MRCC maps using 1dF anom scale. Yeah, very quick turn around for our sub. Now lets see how the rest of the month plays.

0.79" of rain yesterday. That's 1.63" for a 2 day total here in town. 3.16" for the month so far. Forecast for the next few days looks pretty mellow, with temps in the 50's-60's with some shower chances. Seasonal to cooler conditions.

Radar is lit again. Big storms and heavy rain. Wow. Flooding for sure going to happen.

That batch of rain last night netted 0.86" in town, with 0.98" at the airport. Another round coming in for the afternoon. Flood watch out for the entire N MN region with warnings just outside Brainerd, and up along the CA border from Ely over to I-Falls. Up north, the lakes are just opening up from the thick ice cover these past few days, and there was still snow in the woods, so the Rainy River Basin is full with the rain, and the last of the snow melt.

Radar is lit! Svr stuff staying in WI, tho. Heavy rain, and plenty of thunder on the door step.

Upper 70's - low 80's yesterday afternoon away from the lake in the higher terrain. Tied 3rd warmest at KDLH at 79. Hibbing, and I-Falls only in the low 70's, but still very warm for this time of year.

Last couple days, ended with a bout 1/2" of rain. So far, looking good this year. About 1" above normal. More showers/stms, and a stiff lake wind coming up tomorrow night into Thurs, with Fri being another day like today. Then Canadian air moves in on the weekend. Fishing opener going to be a little chilly on Sunday with a breezy W/NW wind. Go figure, that's nothing new. Natural jigging weather.

68 on a light west wind. No lake breeze, yet. Best day of spring so far. Was out on the deck this morning getting some sun. Man, did that feel good. Windows are open getting some needed fresh air in the house. Should hit the low 70's in a couple hours if the lake breeze doesn't kick in. West wind may not be strong enough to keep that from happening. As warm air rises, cool lake air rushes in. Just like the shores of the ocean. LOL, just as I mention lake breeze, it starts. Looks like upper 60's is the most today. But still an awesome day for early May.
