  1. Went on a 2mi hike. WeatherBug says -7F with wind-chill of -34F but I'm not sure I buy it's that cold. Out of the wind you really don't feel cold at all. But hiking into the wind on the ridgetop I could see getting frostbite relatively quickly without protection for your face. Further down the mountain 200-300 vertical feet there's hardly any wind so it isn't bad. I gotta cut some more wood for the stove and cook up some sausage now.
  2. Because I don't have a house (yet) in DCL? We bought 180ac on meadow mtn but it's all forested with no utilities or anything. Saving cash to build the cabin which if the market doesn't go to shit we should start this time next year. So for now we try to go camping here once a month to get our fix. I'll take -6F with -29F WC (according to WeatherBug right now) over 90F and humid for camping any day of the week.
  3. As warm as possible? With this wind and cold I'm not sure it'll get above freezing. Snow in the tent hasn't started melting at all so I assume it's below freezing.
  4. Tent is up! -3F and it says wind chill is -26F right now. Wood stove is starting to pump out some heat but the tent is still well below freezing apparently. On and off snow showers with sun peaking through from time to time.
  5. Heavy snow and road has caved. 13F heading into Grantsville.
  6. I concur. Just west of cumberland and it's down to 25F, very windy and moderate snow.roadsnhavent caved yet but as we get west maybe that'll change. Meadow mtn now down to 7F
  7. Front appears to be passing Cumberland right now. It's getting really windy and the temps are bouncing up and down 5F depending on which pass we're driving through. Meadow mountain at 9F
  8. We're on 68 right now. Weather says it's 14F and heavy snow on meadow mtn. Guess the front already went through, it was 33F about an hour ago. 37F and rain on the highway right now.
  9. My wood stove is going full blast right now . Unfortunately so is my heat pump. Just can't win.
  10. I won't lie, I've heard a few "Stoooorrrmmmtracker" moans in the night. Really hurts my feelings but I understand, a Midwestern boy can only offer so much.
  11. Hey my wife just fired a CEO last week. Thought you'd like to know. She kicked some dude out and is replacing with a woman as we speak.
  12. No beef, just ribbing you. I love the word capitulate, any chance to use it I take it. Didn't mean to cause any upset.
  13. I'll say 30 hail Marys for your soul tonight Tezeta.
  14. Wait are you in Howell, MI? I grew up in Novi. Our CC and Track teams generally kicked your guy's ass. Sorry. I'm heading back up there for a wedding in January. I hope it's cold and snowy.
  15. You ever play that videogame Lemmings around y2k?
  16. Hey didn't you have a blowout last winter and storm off at some point and have to come back and capitulate? Or was that the year before?
  17. Discob down here in Huntingtown, 44F and heavy rain. Pretty miserable but no wind and it's not all that cold so I guess it could be worse. Got the wood stove cranking.
  18. Oh well, seen worse. Number one rule of setting up camp on the mountain....whatever you do, don't let go of your sleeping bag until it's in the tent. And thus the trip endith... ETA, talked to my wife....now we're gonna leave at 4am based on your Intel. Thank you!!!!

  20. Gonna be tight. If we leave at 5am and traffic on the beltway isn't a mess then we will be on top of the mtn at 9am. 20mins to set up the tent...depends on which model I'm hugging. Windy and 30F is a lot easier than windy and 10F so we'll see... Be sure as long as I have cell service there'll be updates lol.
