At 1002 PM EST, Doppler radar was tracking a broken line of showers and thunderstorms along a line extending from 8 miles northwest of Port Jefferson to near Ashford. Movement was northeast at 90 mph.

    Skies cleared nicely in Commack for viewing eclipse. I would post pictures, but with cellphone camera they are at best Bigfoot quality, aka fuzzy and non-descript. Sure decent snaps can be found online.

    Seem to recall temp reached 64° the day before. Factored into forecasters reluctance in predicting accumulating snow. If there was any guidance that even hinted at it, given antecedent conditions, would be hard to take seriously.
