Coming down nicely in Westfield right now. Roads are pretty much a sloppy gelatinous mess thanks to the ridiculous type of ice melter they use these days

I totally get what you're saying, but the roads are super slick here right now. I Blame A lot of it on them insisting on using this damn Clear Lane ice melter on the highways! All it does is make things extra slick during light to moderate snowfalls. The nice thing in my area is a few towns have started using sand again During certain storms after many years of never seeing it laid out on the roads

Regarding schools closing I can tell you that some of it is simply that some systems don't have the maintenance staff that they did a decade or two ago. I've seen it myself in a couple systems where I do electrical maintenance. They can't keep up with stairs and sidewalks let alone parking lots. And then of course there's always our litigious society

It's been a really decent winter, but I agree.. I'm pretty much done. Too many unfinished outdoor projects to complete, and the RAM needs a massive detail

COME ON MAN! You call yourself a sledder!? JK but seriously, I've been out at 45 degrees below in central Canada... THAT was chilly, but we were dressed for it. We ended up coming in late for dinner to our hotel that night because of a problem Arctic Crap sled. We would sled from hotel to hotel for 6 nights, it was awesome!

My Grandfather was Director of H.E.L.Co. Simsbury facility (Hartford electric light company... before Neversource) and they had several measurements taken from different areas around the valley that blow away the official units. I was living in Granby CT at the time, we had approximately 26 inches. It for sure WAS hard to measure... but no where near the 17 or so I see at times. I feel like some just gave up with the winds

Every time someone posts the '78 "official" measurements, I will say it time and time again. One of THE most terribly measured, and inaccurate snow total maps ever... talking the Farmington Valley area specifically

A coating of FR, ZR and an interesting sprinkle of graupel on surfaces. The graupel looks like ice melt sprinkled everywhere. Roads heading to Simsbury were extremely slick

It blows my mind you only ended with 10, when we had 8 in Westfield. Now that's getting the shaft! I'll tell you, this stuff is the most like sand I've seen snow in years, you'd think the snowblower was moving 16 inches
