Looking at the HRRR smoke product, there appears to be some fires down in NC, and the plume is being pushed due north into our area. Nothing like what was coming from Canada, but apparently we are surrounded by fires
So many times while driving I see stuff and wonder "is that person drunk?" even though its 11AM on a Tuesday.. Maybe I'm not so far off! Although they said "impaired" so I wonder if it was weed/drugs and not alcohol.
Its hot! The crunchy brown grass makes it feel warmer too. Looping through the temperature forecast on the mesos for Saturday is really wierd. East to West cold front?
I was there too! First game ever for my 6yo and my 10yo also had a blast. It was school night so a bunch of the class was there.
I haven't been to a game in years, whats the deal with very few gates open to leave? Kinda felt crowded as the mob was leaving through half a gate.
anyone know why the air is bad (code orange) today in central md?

Ha! Same here, sat outside on the porch all evening, was such a nice night. I'm hoping to get my boat in the water this coming weekend, Sunday at least looks dry out west.
Considering we just received 3" of rain, my yard isn't soggy at all. It was a good soaker too. Today was decent although felt a little chilly when the clouds rolled in. Good for getting yardwork done.
Anyone else notice tons of gnats already? Almost impossible to get work done without a hat or head covering. A lot of birds in yard, so maybe something else eats gnats?
LOL, if only that worked in winter as well. I edited the post to change the link to the whole archive. Its kind of fun reading through it from start to "omg too much rain".
I thought I remembered some sort of water restrictions a long time ago, and found this archive from the WaPo circa 1999: Washingtonpost.com: Drought Special Report
I was 19 at the time so didn't really care about water :). Thought the article had some good insight into what happens when we get dry. One thing people around here really don't think about are wells. Even here in howard county the entire western part of the county is not served by public water. Might be 20-25% of the county population.
