Blowing snow in McLean. Will declare a small victory

The beach at Rehoboth has been absolutely getting pounded.

How could I forget. Four days before our wedding and it was going to be outside!! Luckily Saturday made it into the “balmy” 60s. Snowed almost all day on the 9th and frequently heavy at times. But just minor grass accumulations in Tysons McLean area. Dulles a different story

Not a hot news flash here. Buy my God what an awful place DCA is to measure snow. I just made the snowy scenic drive down GW Parkway from McLean to DCA to pick up my daughter. Once started getting close to the airport looked almost like a November car topper had blown through. Nothing remotely like the modest but still snowy scene back up in McLean. Lived here all my life and I’m still shocked every time I experience it.

Did you wake in time to see the incredible rates? That is what it forever etched in my mind as I awoke right at dawn on Monday. I lived in McLean and we got stuck under a band. Was, and still is, the most awesome snow experience I’ve ever had. No doubt why I have this snow affliction. I have seen every major storm in the DMV since by the way. It’s not a contest.

As a child of the 70s in NOVA, such a true statement Bob. I never realized it until recently but I tended to look back on pre PD1 as a much more productive period that reality says it was. If I could point to a marginal sledding event looking back, I was happy. It doesn’t mean the winter was great. Most were not. PD1 is the reason I am here. I sense this is a younger board and most were not around for PD1. Not their fault, but witnessing the early dawn hours of Monday morning PD1 was life changing. It helped with perspective

My house in Rehoboth has 12 inches but whatever. Carry on

I’m with you. We have a place in Rehoboth but I can’t be there for a week!!! I guess will be living through boardwalk cams!!!

I think I am getting in on some of that in McLean. Hardest been coming down yet.

Glad someone asked. I am very confused at the moment with regards to, or lack there of, upcoming winter storm prospects.

OMG. Remember back in mid 70s 1212 was calling for Heavy Snow Warning, as it was once called , for 4-6 starting mid afternoon on a weekday day. Best buddy and I kept waiting. Kept calling 1212 until finally changed to Travelers Advisory, also a thing, for 1-3. Of course got zilch. Not one flake. But loved calling that number

Was up at 12 and 3 this morning and was surprised to see what was happening. And still is!!! Nice for McLean/FFX get in on some late bands once in a while.

Angels Envy Old Fashioned. I’m in Rehoboth Beach and coming home to NOVA tomorrow. For a while there not so sure I wouldn’t see more action at the beach.
