I think many of us really came to accept this last winter. Pretty striking how consistent it used to be with not making big shifts from run to run compared to how flip-floppy it was last winter...nevermind the "caving" to the other models (particularly the GFS).

Or equating September wavelengths or upper air features to those in the depths of winter is a bit simplistic.

12z GFS at 006 looks similar to the same time on the 06z.

Last two runs, it's wanted to run a stripe of seriously heavy precip from south to north somewhere through our area. If that were to happen, whoever is on the receiving end will get rocked.

GFS looking similar to 0z, if even a little west with the heavier rains.

12z is looking OK, as well.

It's looking real, but definitely a shot that this thing gets blocked to all hell and leaves us relatively dry.

And the 0z GEM went all the way TF in.

Would be a bit of a sh*tty weekend if that came about, but I guess I'd take it.

I played around with it once - put one in water and then replanted. It would have probably worked had I kept at it (it was perfectly happy for a few weeks), but I have limited space and enough plants so I just left it to fend for itself...which didn't go so well.

It's almost impossible to keep blight from showing up on the lower leaves by this time of the year, so it does make sense for folks with more serious blight issues to take steps like sprays to keep it from progressing. Healthier plants absolutely will remain productive despite some blight. Warm, muggy conditions will always have a negative effect if they last for too long, but keeping the plants pruned and allowing air to flow throughout the plants is a massive help. I mentioned earlier that I prune all suckers until the plants are 7-8' high (mid-summer or so) and I also get rid of lower leaves is and when they develop blight - this keeps the air flowing nicely (and I find it also helps with production in general).

I like reading it for certain things because they have some fantastic mets and hobbyists, but otherwise it's a bit of a mess.
