  1. Definitely a spring backdoor-type look. I know on which side of that gradient I'd prefer to be.
  2. I'm honestly happy for them. Folks out West can really use a steady dumping to get the water levels back up again. Consistent flooding rains aren't great, of course, but it's better than staying dry as a bone.
  3. I'm thinking stuck in between those two things: much cooler than normal (but not cold enough for snow except for maybe one small mixed event), plenty of clouds, and cold rain.
  4. March is going to suck, isn't it?
  5. Early spring allergies have kicked in for me, so I guess there's no going back.
  6. Just in time for when most of us just want to move onto spring. Who could have expected that?
  7. Crazy that the long-range GFS is already poking its nose into March. (Actual) Spring will be here before we know it.
  8. It really did...but I would have been so, so, so pissed off sitting in that subsidence between bands yesterday afternoon. Good thing is was just rain.
  9. Why are you so butthurt by that comment? The comment stated that he felt the Eagles are more talented in all but one position group, quarterback. "Position group" is not the same as "position."
  10. Got my seeds started indoors on Saturday: San Marzano, Cuore di Bue, and Pomodoro Squisito tomatoes, jalapenos, lettuce, broccoli, mache, basil, and parsley. I'll also direct-sow some spinach and more lettuce and mache in 3-4 weeks and will sprinkle some other herb seeds once the warm weather comes. I don't have a huge garden, but I make the most of what room I've got!
  11. That's what I'm saying. The rubber band is going to snap at some point, but until we have a reason to think it's going to, then I'm sticking with persistence. Huge ridge in the West in the summer and SER in the East in the winter. If we go moderate Nino in a favorable location, then things may change next winter, but I don't know...I just don't see a reason to think this summer will be particularly hot.
  12. Maybe the new normal is a huge ridge with blazing summer heat out West? And if that summer rubber band does bonce back, then by extension the winter one should, as well.
  13. Never had it. I grew up about 20-25 minutes from Washington Township, so lots of places between me and there! The most well-known place that I would often grab slices was King of Pizza on Rt. 38 in Cherry Hill. Close to my high school and a place that we'd mostly hit late on weekends, heading home from the mall, or just on the way from one place to another. There are some good pizza places in the area - I don't deny that - but most pizza here is just awful. Wise Guys is excellent. Italian Store is really good. Mamma Lucia's in Fairfax throws together a good pie (though admittedly I've only had it once). Milano's in Springfield - while not quite the pizza I grew up with - usually does a really good job on their pizzas. Puppatella is pretty good for Neapolitan. In just writing out that list, I realize that I'm mentioning lots of chains, except for Milano's. No real mom-and-pop places with their own personalities. I honestly think that has a lot to do with it, aside from just not being a location with a real pizza identity or history. Detroit style is intriguing. I feel like deep dish pizza is quite distinct from NY style, so I don't like to compare them, but I'm certainly open to trying out a good Detroit style place.

  15. Growing up just across the river from Philly, I'm a NY-style pizza snob. We had three or four mom-and-pop pizza places within a two-mile radius. All of them were fantastic, though each were just slightly different enough to be able to tell them apart. Pizza around here generally sucks. There are a few places with worthy pies, but most are garbage, which is just one reason why my neighbor (from Long Island) and I have delved into the depths of making NY-style pizzas. Gotta say...we both do a fine job of it, from getting the proper gear for home ovens to making our own doughs and sauces to finding just the right kind of cheese to get the melt we want. That said, Costco's Detroit-style pizza is really damn good, so I'd highly suggest it for anyone looking for a good frozen pizza.
  16. I give you full marks for finding the silver lining in the coming rain clouds!
  17. Get used to it, man. Never snowing again. Base state, new normal, and all.
  18. All of this is just a preview of the storm track for next winter when the SER is going to abate due to the Nino and we'll more cold air to work with. Gotta hug something.
