March Medium/Long Range Thread: The Empire Strikes Back
mattie g replied to stormtracker's topic in Mid Atlantic
If there's anything that I noticed, it was that. I don't know a ton, but just a quick glance tells me that, as depicted, we would run the risk of being just on the wrong side of things. -

Got it. That second screengrab makes more sense. Thanks! -

I think I speak for many when I say I don't quite know why we're calling on the Good Shepherd with this look. -

Can I request that Weather Will stop referring to models as "WB Euro" or "WB GFS" or whatever, especially when posting images of H5? They're just the Euro or GFS or CMC or any other model depiction. Except maybe for the algorithms used for snowfall, It's not as if one site shows something different than another. Pedantic, I know. -
But who cares a out the weather in Florida or what the barometer reading was. IMBY results is what it’s all about.

Not sure about going brown and falling over, but they're the type that forms scapes (which you cut before they bloom) and that have the hard stem between the cloves. You do need to harvest them as the leaves start to brown, which usually happens in early to mid summer, so maybe that's what you're referring to. Wait too long to harvest and the cloves start to separate and the head definitely won't store as well. From what I've read, they don't store quite as long as most softnecks, but I've stored them for 8+ months on a number of occasions, as long as I've harvested them in good time and cured them properly. -
I'm taking a late-season improvement in our looks (!) as a precursor for the banner winter next year.

No idea! They were here when we moved in 13 years ago. -
It's going to cut to Minneapolis.
-
Honestly...that would suck. It would get really boring after a few weeks.

Ours often bloom around Christmas and into January and February, as their name would suggest. -
And the Euro went from cutter to a slider in its two most recent runs.

There was never really any doubt. The rubber band always snaps back, so it was bound to happen at this point in the season.

Someone posted a tweet in banter that claimed it was related to an incident from three weeks ago, but the post was rightly hidden...but not before some of us saw it and commented on it. -
I agree. I was going to mention the Canadian but I got a little lazy. It's not ultimately a cutter look, but the primary makes its move much farther west and makes it too far north before transferring. Big differences out west, though...

I replied in a not-so-friendly manner, then deleted my reply. Thanks for handling it!

If the 0z Euro was a blip in an otherwise cutterier scenario, then yeah...GFS being relatively on its own isn't cool. But if the Euro sticks with its 0z idea of the energy sliding soth, then we have two relatively different camps and we have to wait to see which one blink first.

Sounds about right. -
Let's be honest...not if we were forecast for 18"+ because most of us lack relative sanity.
-
Nice. I've basically checked out and am just counting the days until the inevitable March/April suck is done and we can truly put this winter behind us.
-
I honestly haven't paid attention to much of anything weather-wise recently, so...me! I assume something interesting is happening...
-
But that's a snapshot of one specific point in time nearly two weeks away on an op run. Run it for 12z, March 5 and you'll get a different result. There's no useful information to gather from it.
-
I'm confused...you just posted a trend gif of one specific hour of an op run at nearly two weeks away which shows only the latest run being appreciably warmer in the South than the previous three. Temps are honestly pretty steady in our area, if that's even worth anything. Are you expecting to actually glean something from this?

I prefer to grow hardneck garlics, which requires extended cold spells to properly split into cloves, so I'm hoping that some of the cold we got in December will help with that. My garlic really struggled last year, so hopefully this mild winter doesn't screw me again!
