  1. Weather Underground forecast has me at -7 on Thursday. Pretty sure that's be the coldest I'd be since I moved to the area in 1997. We had a couple mornings below zero last year, but not that cold - maybe -3 or so...can't quite recall. Either way, that's damn cold, let alone for nearly the end of February.
  2. Just because one storm was better for you doesn't mean it was better for everyone.
  3. That winter seems so long ago now. Winters have generally been lame since then, and my life is *way* different than it was that winter. It's quite honestly almost like it never happened.
  4. There were rates easily that big in the '09-'10 storms. It's all subjective, of course, but those storms were beasts. December 18-19 was 20" of pretty heavy snow, too. I definitely remember the blue tinge to it.
  5. This winter sucks, which is no doubt the reason why this thread was started.
  6. I don't know. It's looking a little ragged down in NC. We might go to freezing drizzle and bust low.
  7. 2011-2012: 2.75" 2012-2013: 11" 2013-2014: 14" Total: 27.75" In just under three seasons, I've totalled slightly less that I got in that one storm. That shows two things: 1) That storm was awesome 2) We generally suck
  8. I hardly even remember PD2. I'd suspect it's because I was working (bartender) and drunk pretty much the whole time because barely any other restaurants were open for a few days afterwards. I got stuck in Wilkes-Barre, PA during '96. We got about 20" up there, while my hometown in Jersey got 33". December 18-19 was an awesome storm, but its 22" was almost dwarfed by the 27" from Feb 5-6. I only got 8-9" from Feb 10, but the morning blizzard band was pretty sick. No doubt, though, that Dec 18-19 was in my top 5 all time. Easy.
  9. Working from home for a week FTW.
  10. There was a massive pile of snow where 295 meets the Inner Loop as you come to the Wilson Bridge that was still there well into April, if I recall correctly. It's one of the few spots in that section where they could pile the snow up without interfering with traffic. And I remember all the dirt, grit, and grime that was left behind from that pile - it was pretty nasty and it took a long time for it to get washed away that summer.
  11. I can't remember exactly, but I think I had 28" in the first storm, and right about 10" in the second, so I'm sure I had over 30" in certain places, but the wind from the second storm really scoured out a lot of spots and ended up piling that snow in drifts and the like.
  12. Three years ago already? Only four more years to go until we get another good winter!
  13. I'm not sure you really know what research is.
  14. I have video of me and my dog running around in that band. It was f'ing ripping.
  15. Don't worry. It'll be bumped again next year as we pine for some sort of appreciable snow for the third year running.
  16. I'm starting to tire of having to relive 09-10 in order to feel good about winter.
  17. I wish I could go back to that day and experience it again...and actually know what the hell was happening. It was freaky.
  18. So basically what RodneyS is saying is that averages tend to...well...average out the peaks and valleys we can sometimes get.
  19. But that has nothing to do with what the temps might be a month, two months, five months down the line. By the logic you're using, one warm month means the following month will also be warm, which means the following month will also be warm, ad infinitum.
  20. So you mean you don't ascribe to the belief that a warm winter and spring means the following summer will be hotter than normal? Which means the following winter will be warmer than normal, which means the following spring will be warmer than normal, which means...
