  1. Our younger one will generally sleep through noise, but won’t go down while things are happening. Tonight was a different story though. Annoyed that we just missed on a ton of good stuff this evening. Even the little tail-end cell that popped up as the big one rolled across the Potomac missed us by a couple miles.
  2. Nope. Got mostly split. But of course the line consolidated just as it passed by.
  3. And about a minute of rain followed by maybe another 30 seconds. But the kids certainly heard the thunder because wife and I are both in different rooms helping them get back to sleep. Argh!!!!
  4. F the storms these last few days. Grrrrrrr...
  5. I noticed that while I was getting completely split during the first round. The second line dropped 0.6" or so per radar (waiting for CoCoRaHS to confirm), which was quite nice. Love it when storms come through just after dinner to cool things down and not allow enough time for the sun to heat things up again.
  6. The no-see-ums (biting midges) do bite/sting, but regular old gnats don't. I've never really had much of an issue with them around here, but they are the bane of my existence when fishing down in Hilton Head. I need Nuclear Level Off, and reapply on the regular, to keep them at bay.
  7. It'll be mine soon enough.
  8. We're totally redoing our garden area, but I only got a chance to build one of the two raised beds I'm planning on. Even so, the half-garden I planted is doing really well. I planted late, but tomatoes are really starting to fruit, so we should be in the goods within a few weeks. I just need to get the second raised bed built in time for the late-summer/fall seeding period. We've had enough rain at the right times, so the lawn is doing just fine. I rarely water it even if it really needs it, so getting the rain we have has been really nice to keep everything green and growing (though not too fast).
  9. Definitely localized flooding in this section of Fairfax County. Thanks for the thoughts and prayers
  10. I find this suspect. Not sure how we'll get even 1/3 of that CAPE.
  11. One large tree ripped out of the ground and another split in half down by the Tidal Pool. Lots of smaller branches down, too.
  12. So can I, since I had sleet pellets fhere and there and some wet flakes for 15 minutes or so at around 3:00. So...T. Big win.
  13. Was really ripping in Burke the last 20 minutes or so. Probably added another 0.10” of rain in that time. Looks ready to ease up now.
  14. Put your phone away. You got better things to do...
  15. When the rates ease up, I go from moderate cold rain to light just-as-cold rain.
  16. Got some rain and occasional sleet and snowflakes in Burke at 35 degrees. Yet another beautiful Sunday.
