  1. Wife just told me it rained a little here in Burke this morning. That’s surprising.
  2. Wow...already? I'll be harvesting tomatoes until at least mid-October. I want to get every last fruit off the vine that I possibly can. I have a ton of maters and jalapenos that are still maturing - I'd hazard that I'll harvest 10+ lbs of tomatoes of various variety between now and then.
  3. Yesterday, we took out 50 sq ft of river rock that bordered one part of the patio we had put in a couple years ago and replaced it with sod. Painful process, but it looks so much cleaner now. Hopefully our kids (with the help of the neighborhood kids) don't destroy it. My hands hurt today.
  4. They let people drive the 4WDs on the beach in Galveston during the Galveston Hurricane of 1900. Just sayin’...
  5. Same here. I went to school in Central PA, and there was a farm at the back edge of campus where my fraternity was located. They sprayed "organic fertilizer" on those fields that made you want to puke for a few days until it finally calmed down.
  6. December is pretty ugly, but January looks dirty (as in good dirty). February ain't half-bad, either.
  7. Looks like maybe 0.20" or so based on nearby CoCoRaHS. We just missed out on more, but I'll take it.
  8. The trajectory is such that it would miss me by probably 5 miles to the north. Would be terribly fitting.
  9. I figured, but wasn’t sure! Im done with dry. I don’t a wet and miserable fall, but September would be an ideal time to break into some wetter weather. Dry Octobers are great...but not after 3-4 months of being parched.
  10. Slightly above normal in September doesn’t imply hot to me, especially if the warmer anomalies happen later in the month. Either way, we know that, come the end of the month, some folks will be on the lookout for white rain at 384...
  11. You’re weird...and not because you turned it back on.
  12. The process of buying a car sucks. But it sucks even more when you try to do it with two young kids in tow.
  13. Looks like it fell apart before long though. Still, won’t complain about a little bit of rainfall. Just need more, is all.
  14. I'm also not sold on fall being generally warmer than normal, but we all know that we will roast for at least a few days sometime in September or October...or both. It always happens. It's not like I'm going out on a limb by saying this at the end of August, but I just think that this cool shot is showing us the arse-end of general heat at this point, with a general step-down process to the cooler months now in progress.
  15. Was really pleasant walking from L'Enfant to work; with the slight wind in my face, it had a little bit of a chill. Was even nicer walking to the train from home. While we'll absolutely roast a time or three again, this is really the beginning of the step down from summer.
  16. Thanks. I looked into my attachments and I had used up more space than I thought. Kind of annoying that there’s such a relatively low limit, but oh well. It’d be nice to keep all of the attachments from during interesting events, but at some point they’ll have to go. As someone who is a bit of sentimentalist, it’s a little hard to get rid of some of them, even though deep down I know I shouldn’t care.
  17. I could see maybe 1” eventually if this choo-choo keeps it up. What’s nice that it’s cool and steady. Nice, soaking rain.
  18. Yup. 67 and rain. Like a dreary early-fall day Ninja’ed
