  1. Pretty good consensus among the short-range models of 0.75-1.25" for the metro areas, but in general we all pick up a good amount of much-needed rain (though perhaps areas in the lee of the mountains might see less).
  2. For the rest of my life, I'll remember how frantic I was in trying to get home from a work trip in California so I could be there for the January 2016 snowstorm. I got out there on the Sunday prior (conference was scheduled to run through the following Wednesday), with the knowledge that we were almost certainly due a crushing back home. First thing Monday morning I started working on people to see if I could head out early, but it wasn't until Wednesday afternoon that they approved travel changes for those of us attending from the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast. I ended up catching a redeye on Thursday night, which got me home to cold, overcast skies just before sunrise...and the rest is history. Maybe I should go back and read my posts on here about my efforts. Might be pretty cool!
  3. Move that block about 400 miles to the WSW in another 45 days and we're in business.
  4. This is because DC pretty much sucks as a snow town.
  5. Yeah...that long-range cold bias has definitely been noticeable, but it's certainly easy enough to account for it. 00z was even chillier - got freezes into the cities (or at least the near-in suburbs). If this look sticks around, I fully agree with you and wouldn't be shocked if we do see a freeze before Halloween. Which would only make sense since I went for much later dates in the contest this year.
  6. 10/15 06z GFS puts us in the cooler pretty much from 180 through the end of the run with a big ridge out west and trough in the east. It'll likely modify somewhat between now and then, but it's definitely chock full of reinforcing cool shots throughout that time.
  7. If this is a sign that this winter could bring 0.9” of QPF In 4-6 hours from a transferring/bombing Miller B, then I’ll quietly accept what’s given and quickly shut the door behind me.
  8. Got down to 46 in Burke. Not bad.
  9. I guess it's all a matter of perspective. I can't see myself ever chasing. I simply have no time to do it - especially not now with a young family and job and all that crap that gets in the way of having fun. Frankly, I'm also not into weather enough to sacrifice time and money on chasing it. I like MBY, and if I don't get interesting weather there, then I'll "suffer" through weather i don't like and find something else to do. To each their own, of course, and I totally get why people would chase. It's just not for me, is all. That said, a 2' blizzard would be awesome. Let's do it here.
  10. Yeah. Never seen that one before...
  11. Meh. Upper-Midwest fall blizzard. Nothing new, nothing to worry about. I honestly didn't even know about it until you mentioned it. More often that not, it's better not to pay attention to what's going on elsewhere, especially in an area that's a completely different climate.
  12. ^ I think the neighborhood Halloween parade had been held in torch-ish conditions the last three years. Wish we could just have a nice, chilly parade for once!
  13. Sounds like a good night...
  14. 81 now and then a little snow followed by a torch? And people b*tch about our weather...
  15. Don't think it would be traffic since you get a lot of SW-moving returns south of DC. Traffic would be moving north. Very slowly. It's chemtrails. And HAARP.
  16. Will you be able to keep your cheeks dry today since there was no rain?
  17. My dog tore up a family of moles the first fall we had him - sniffed them out from above the ground and dug them out from 6-8 inches down. I felt kind of bad, but we haven't seen a mole since. I love that dog.
  18. Can we get some chemtrails or HAARP up in this jawn to give us some rain or something?
  19. I felt a raindrop in Burke about 15 minutes ago.
  20. Perfect early-fall day. Plenty warm in the sun, but chilly in the shade and when the wind blew. Maybe it’s the comfy weather, but for some reason, I feel like I could sleep for days...
  21. Anyone want to use my thread?
  22. I normally hate that S, but I’d be down with it. Would be kind of fun to track it from a week or so out.
