And an inch or so in my neck of the Fairfax County woods. Mother f***er...if my kids woke up on Christmas morning to an inch of snow on the ground with a few flakes still flying, I'd roll over and die a happy man (maybe bad timing to die then, but whatever).

We got that one quick evening snow shower 10 days or so ago, which looked really nice as it fell on the lights. No accumulation, but I'll take anything at this point. I'd kill for even .25" of slush to make the house look truly festive! The below normal December is pretty amazing. Frustrating...but amazing.

Second time the curve of Burke Road near Burke Nursery has been closed in the last few days, so I assume we rained pretty good overnight. Foggy, wet, and cool. Ah...this is the December weather I know and hate!

I assume their decision wasn't based off Fairfax County's daylong 37 degree rain, and I wasn't following any of the reports outside MBY, so I'll give them a pass!

Hey, fellow Class of '97'er! I was a freshman at Bucknell that year. It seemed to snow at every single opportunity, even in the valley. What a winter...only to be followed two years later by another epic one!

I prefer the Euro's take on Day 10. If I can't get huge snows, then I don't want anyone else to get them.

Places in Jersey got 30"+ in 2010. At that point, what's another foot between friends? Seriously though...how the GFS comes together is a little different than I recall Boxing Day. Wasn't that a Miller B that redeveloped a tad too far northeast? Maybe not and I'm just refusing the remember it clearly because we drove home from South Jersey that f'ing morning, leaving like 15-18" of wind-whipped snow behind us. It flurried on the ride home though, so I guess that was cool. Seems like the GFS has been wanting to develop something just off the coast in the same general timeframe for a while now, so I guess we just keep an eye out and hope that the next 35 runs snow on us.

About 20 minutes after posting this above, I took the kids to the bus stop and we had a small snow shower. That makes four Traces on the season!

Agreed. Pretty awful day, but I’m not upset at it happening like this before Thanksgiving. This happening in January would be maddening. That said, I hit some balls at the range at lunchtime while flakes were falling, which was kind of cool.
