  1. If you decide to go that route, you'll be leaving my pad with a bucket of cold rain.
  2. Whether people like the idea of jinxes or not, I'm already blaming WxUSAF on the trends for this weekend's threat.
  3. Not sure when I joined, but I remember following the February 2006 storm on the board and reading posts about that insane deform band up in the New York City area. Randy five-posted me at some point in 2009-2010 because I made some sort of off-color joke at an inopportune moment. Pretty sure I was in the sin bin for like a year.
  4. Is that estimated after we get horsepissed on three days later?
  5. Good stuff. So bummed we missed this by just a couple days!
  6. Just very light snow now. What a truly nice surprise on New Year’s Day!
  7. My girls skied for the first time last week. Little one (6) really liked it and the older one (10) liked it OK enough . We had a blast overall though. Last week of January should be fantastic up there. I’m jealous!
  8. And it’s the same people over and over. If only people would stop engaging…
  9. Just saw some snow mixing in with the light precip here in Burke, even though I’m at 42 degrees. Definitely surprised me!
  10. Just got back on Saturday from a few days at Wisp. I’d say about half the runs were open with the base eroding quickly after that big rainer last week. Good to see they’re snowing lightly now and should continue to do so over the next day or so…and I imagine they’ll be in pretty good shape come the end of next week.
  11. That’s easy for a robot to say.
  12. Well…since modeling in the long range is very accurate, this sounds like bad news. Might need to go away for another few days and see if things change. No idea what this means, but I’ll allow it.
  13. Was greeted by a similar view this morning. We stayed near the top of the mountain right by one of the (currently closed) runs at Wisp and had a blast despite the less than ideal conditions. Just seeing the snow last night and into this morning made the trip all that much better!
  14. Just got back from three days at Wisp with four other families. Tapped out for that time and just kept busy and happy, even if it was 75 and pissing down rain on the mountain when we got there. Good thing is that it started snowing last night and we woke up to 1-2” on our cars this morning. Anyways…did I miss anything interesting?
  15. I know what to say: This is a model run. This hasn’t actually happened yet (shock horror!).
  16. I never took regular Physics, let alone learned about wave physics.
  17. Love this quote from psu in the long-range thread: Something made me giggle at such a flippant comment about “basic wave physics.”
  18. See…I fired up r/mid_atlantic_wx for just such occasions when the server craps out unexpectedly.
  19. Rocking nuthuggers when it’s 50F? Sure…I’m in.
  20. Thanks, guys. Definitely him. nw balt…that’s how I remember it, as well. I think he hinted around it, but eventually opened up. Storm…yeah, he was a funny dude. Had a pretty cool take on things and never let all of it get to him. I remember being a little confused about his last posts and then it hit me one day that he hadn’t been around for a bit. Without searching his name, I’m guessing it’s coming up on ten years he’s been gone. Hope he’s somewhere watching all of us and wondering why TF were still at it.
  21. I’m not trying to be morbid, but do folks remember a poster from quite a few years ago who was open about the fact that, due to illness, he was nearing the end of his time on earth and said his plan was to set up on the edge of the ocean and let the water just take him when his time was up? It’s been quite a while, but that discussion has stuck with me all these years…
  22. I have plenty of folks on ignore, even if I do try to be mindful of not creating my own personal echo chamber. I do wish the board software could hide the quoted posts by those on ignore though. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
  23. What a surprise. The typical folks have shown up after this GFS run.
  24. I’m weenie as hell for trying to analyze 384 on an op run, but is that the PV pinched under the NAO/AO near Hudson Bay, providing confluence and a source of colder air?
