  1. Interesting to see a non-bombed-out low out bully its way into a high like that with blocking in place. edit: Good track, though, so I suppose it's more about cold than the block.
  2. Good call on that! I'd love to make it out there at some time to see the place and give that beer a whirl!
  3. 50/50 Low, a High just north of the Lakes, and a storm coming out of the Gulf. Not sure what's so promising about that..
  4. I'd like to know how soon I can make a definitive call on how warm it'll be four weeks from now, because I want to drop the bad news first.
  5. He seems generally OK, but I honestly have no idea what any of his posts mean. Porting mages of 10hPa stuff or whatever and just saying "This is really interesting from Eric" doesn't do anything for me. To each their own, of course.
  6. One thing that’s giving me the warm fuzzies is that we see a great look up top develop within 10 days from now and not really relent through the remainder of the run. Looking at the GEFS, we see the -AO and -NAO and a decent look on the Pacific side, as well. It'll suck if we don’t score in the next couple weeks, but if we can set this as the base atmospheric state for the season then we WILL score sooner rather than later.
  7. Someone in my neighborhood posted on Facebook that there were flurries earlier. I'm sitting in the second-floor home office right by the window and haven't seen anything. Of course, I'm too dedicated a worker to have more than a few cursory looks outside, so I leave it to all the slackers out there to report for me.
  8. Or you can put him on ignore. Just sayin'...
  9. As soon as you see the back edge on the radar.
  10. I understand the take that we have seemed to turn milder around the solstice in the recent past, but I think using the word "clear" when referring to the pattern we'll be in four weeks from today is fraught with danger. You could be right and we do turn warmer, but I honestly think it's a toss up this far out.
  11. This place really can be the worst.
  12. So...on November 30, you're saying that it's clear that we're going to change to warmer around Christmastime? I just want to be sure I'm reading you right...that we're clear on what the temperature regime will be about four weeks from now.

  14. Aside from Wednesday and Thursday, it’s been in the 70s with sun for the last week here in HHI, and it looks to continue well into next week. Really can’t be beat.
  15. Gotta admit...I've never been so disinterested in/unconcerned with long-range winter outlooks than I am this year. It just feels like the new regime we're in means that we can't rely on so many of the lessons learned in the last 50 years. Interesting exercise for the long-rangers, no doubt, but I just can't get into worrying about it.
  16. Jesus...it's pissing down right now.
  17. I wish I could say the same. Working from home has meant that my breakfasts and lunches are bigger than they used to be. When I go into the office I just have snack-y things (Belvitas, granola bars, etc.) in the morning and afternoon, but now I have full bowls of cereal or toast and eggs for breakfast then a sandwich or something for lunch...with maybe a snack of chips in there somewhere. As for drink quantities...that, too.
  18. I so wish that CBD could be in my arsenal. Unfortunately, it’s (stupidly) not possible given my line of work.
  19. For the first 6 months of this whole COVID mess, I probably drank 5 nights a week, which led to my catching COVID-15. I’ve cut back to just having a few beers on Thursday-Saturday, which has made the weeks a little bit of a drag.
  20. Is the foliage ever really that great around here? Of the trees native to the region, I feel like the various maples provide the best color, but maples aren't pervasive enough in this area to put on quite that much of a show. The huge beech trees in my neighborhood look really nice (bright yellow) for about a week, but they start to turn mottled yellow/brown pretty quickly.
  21. Just get the rain out of here so I can play golf on Friday afternoon. First round in ages...and got a hall pass for it!
  22. I’ve been listening to TSS for about five years now and, like you, I feel a sense of loss that’s really hard to describe, particularly because I wasn’t fortunate enough to have ever met him in person. Even so, he was a pretty significant part of my daily routine for many years, so to have lost him has hit pretty hard. Daryl was obviously a wonderful person who contributed so much to not only the soccer community in the US but also to world as a whole. Rest in peace, Daryl. Thank you for taking the time to talk to us for all these years...
