  1. So what you're saying is that your elevation won't help you?
  2. Nice. I'll bring my own sleeping blanket. But if your ladyfriend will be staying over then I want no part of it.
  3. A majority of of us have been completely starved of snow the last couple years. Analysis is fine and all, but when you've been fighting for scraps for 1000 days, you start thinking that a steaming pile of sh*t looks appetizing. Besides, most of us don't really know all that much about the science behind it - we're just fans of fun weather.
  4. I'm not and wouldn't be good with it, but then again I don't live 35 miles northwest of the cities.
  5. Obligatory "imagine if this were all snow."
  6. I completely understand, and I think it's going OK so far. Most folks don't realize the work that goes on behind the scenes, so I get how frustrating that can be. I think we're a suite or two away from full melt around here. We get through that, then the acceptance phase will kick in for those of us who will be on the outside looking in.
  7. Brilliant All things considered, I live in an amazing place - it just happens to not be great for snow. I'll wail and gnash my teeth a few times a year, while also placating kids whose own hopes for snow get dashed, so that sucks. But I'll come in here and be a little sarcastic and a bit snippy to bow off that steam, while trying not to derail things too much. And If I get out of hand then I deserve a smackdown, just like anyone else!
  8. Knowing your climo doesn't take the sting out of things though. I understand the whole idea of "if you don't like it then move," but that's just not going to happen for most people - they live with the hand they've been dealt. They just want a place to hang out and chat, and we can just hope that most are somewhat mature about it. I know that it can get really tiresome dealing with certain people and certain reactions as a mod - been there, done that on other boards - so I really don't want to come off as preachy. Finding the middle ground of allowing people to blow of steam but not beat the dead horse too much...that's really tough to do..
  9. We're also like 10-15 years older than when we started and we have to deal with lots of new folks whose personalities we don't really know. Tough to be rational when new folks crash your pity parties (for me, at least ).
  10. I'm generally a rational adult who takes things in stride, but getting screwed out of snow pisses me off. I'm sure the same goes for many others (I mean...look at H2O - dude about lost it earlier ). Folks come here to congregate, to revel in awesome weather together, and sometimes to vent their disappointment. I think letting them do that to some degree without having snarky remarks thrown at them should be permitted.
  11. Let's just run this thing up the Shenandoah Valley and so we can all be miserable together!
  12. Moderate rain. Temp has dropped to 39. Looking forward to the rain continuing.
  13. Not so sure about the bolded part, but everything else...I think I'm with you.
  14. I feel like it's been a long time since we've had a really big forum divider - one that drops 10"+ on places within 20 miles north and west of the cities and a slushy inch or two (and/or rain) cities and east. I'm not just talking about HighStakes and PSU and the Shenandoah folks getting hit and everyone else fighting for scraps - I mean like the smash zone being painfully close to the cities. This looks to be the one to break that streak.
  15. I hear ya, but I mentioned yesterday that we’re in the most amazing neighborhood right now. We had looked at places around Warrenton a couple years ago, but there’s just no way we could leave.
  16. Some Google functionality is available, but some services are down. and yup...it's everywhere.
  17. F this storm already. I’ve got my eyes firmly on the big Christmas rainer.
  18. That’s the one I mentioned yesterday (pretty sure I said it was 12/5/2002 though). I got like 4” or so at about 325’. I remember it never really flipped when I fully expected it to.
  19. We’re so due that it gave us two.
  20. With this year’s move to telework (even for projects requiring a clearance) and the possibility of moving to a new project with 100% telework, I’d absolutely love to move west - for both a little more space and a little more snow. The problem is that our neighborhood is about the most idyllic you could imagine for the kids, wife, and me, so there’s basically no way we’re leaving. Good problem to have, I suppose!
