  1. Other Half Triple Dream Gems for me. Yup. Not sure why anyone would think that everyone would like a thump to freezing rain. I understand that some might like that, but I f’ing hate the flip to freezing rain.
  2. I’m right on the southern edge of the hole, but somehow snuck my way inside.
  3. I’m all about being fun but dropping the f’ing hammer, but that might be the bourbon talking.
  4. Is it too late for me to say casual, but with a heavy hand?
  5. Sunday would be drippy (like most of my Sundays).
  6. I know this is stating the obvious, but I wouldn't completely mind a run (maybe 0z tonight) where things get shifted south, with subsequent runs correcting back northwards until gametime. In any case, I love the "recovery" by the last few suites. None of the mood swings as with long-term tracking, and sll of the simple pleasure of having things pop in the shorter term.
  7. This is one of the most weather nerd things I've ever seen.
  8. Not sure what year it was, but there was a legit flash freeze in South Jersey when I was a kid. Could have been 1985, but more likely to have been a couple years later. All I remember was that we ended with a couple inches of snow on the ground and a frozen, 2-8" deep and probably 5000 sq ft "pond" that was created by a small creek that overflowed its banks into a bowl-like park. We were able to ice skate and play hockey on that thing for what seemed like days and days on end. So much fun.
  9. And how about warm winters in Alaska prior to that? How did those work out for us?
  10. No expert whatsoever, but I believe 2010-2011 featured blocking, especially earlier on in the year (someone please correct me if I'm wrong) - so a "continuation" of the blocking we saw the previous year. Of course, our general base state recently seems to have been +NAO, so who knows.
  11. The only reason I'm still around is because there's an ignore function - I couldn't have stuck it out with the personalities and posting style of some folks. The only problem I have is that you can still see posts by those on your ignore list that have been quoted.
  12. Plows are the worst. Back in college (central PA), they would use coal ash instead of sand and/or salt. That stuff got *everywhere* as things started to melt.
  13. Picked up a T overnight. Amazing to have four straight days of snow of some kind and come away with about 5".
  14. I hope the thread name change (correction) doesn’t ruin our chances...
  15. Pretty sure Dulles was west of the banding, and many of them that swung through places like Lessburg fizzled out a bit as they pushed south.
  16. I don't think we added a ton today despite it snowing much of the day. It just never really came down hard. More than 0.7" but not by a lot.
  17. I'm good with that, as long as it happens while I'm in town...then we go to spring shortly thereafter.
  18. Felt bad for the UPS/FedEx/Amazon folks that need to get up the driveway for deliveries, though I probably could have left it since the early-February sun will undoubtedly boil away the snow by the end of the day tomorrow.
  19. Anything that's fun and results in a party is worth keeping around. No idea how that Phil dude gets treated, though I'd like to think Phils get treated well and live longer than most other groundhogs.
  20. 40-day post-solstice sun is brutal. If I'd been out in it for more than 20 minutes today, I'd have definitely put on some SPF 50 sunscreen. As it was, I was shedding clothing within 3 minutes of starting to shovel.
