  1. Wow...crazy that your in-laws are only a mile away. As that line formed, I was right on the edge of a split, so we got very light rain consisting of huge drops. It then filled in right over us and developed more to our NW, which then slid over us. Some of the heaviest rain I've seen this summer.
  2. Agreed. It poured buckets for 10 minutes or so, though we didn't get a ton of lightning/thunder. Closest PWS hasn't reported yet, but there's one not too far away (just to the NNE) that came in with just under an inch. I'm thinking we went a little over that.
  3. I know there's a lot of CAPE, but I honestly have no idea how to read what's in the rest of the soundings...
  4. Didn’t get much lightning or wind with the cell that stretched NNW-SSE through Burke, but it absolutely pissed down rain for about 10 minutes, with decent-enough rains leading into it. Pleasant surprise tonight.
  5. I assume they're referring to PA, NJ, DE, and MD when talking about the Mid-Atlantic.
  6. I've seen maybe 3 movies in a theater in the last 10 years, and we haven't taken advantage of the Disney/HBOMax offerings yet. I'm just not much of a movie person, though I can really get into them if the story interests me and/or the filmmaking is of exceptional quality.
  7. Ah...that popped up after I looked before. It's only a few miles to my NNE, and that number makes a lot more sense.
  8. The two closest CoCoRaHS reports come in at 0.26" and 0.56". That honestly seems low given the amount of water that fell from the sky for 20-30 minutes. Our pond is also nearly overflowing, whereas before the rain there was well over an inch between the water level and the top of the pond.
  9. And many of us (me) will complain about that, too.
  10. I might get close to 1.00” but there was a mini split over me until the line consolidated; however, when it opened up it *really* opened up.
  11. It’s amazing how such a basic thing as a light thunderstorm can feel so glorious when it hasn’t rained in a couple weeks!
  12. That's a little surprising. I was going to go with all sub-100 temps, but figured we'd get a day or two with a downsloping wind to get Dulles there, but I can't find any really hot days (I swear there was a 98 or something at some point). I also figured Richmond would really roast a few days, but they haven't been above 96 (twice).
  13. Nice work! I can't imagine being so dedicated as a young person that I would have gotten up that early every day, so kudos to you!
  14. I hear that. The dedicated swim team families all bolt once Divisionals are done (expect for the families that have kids with a shot at All-Stars). We're heading out at the end of next week and will come back the week before school starts. Just need to get through the next 12 days...
  15. Last couple runs of the HRRRRRRRRR have cells just to the north and/or south, so I'm 100% in on your 100% fail scenario for MBY.
  16. We just need some sort of structure for these maniacs. The pool opens at 11, but heading up there at open is a bit of a stretch. It's going to be a free-for-all before noon, at least. The older one is really excited about going back to school. Little one is looking forward to preschool, as well, so it'll certainly make things easier for everyone once we get into September.
  17. Yup - there's no way around it. Is it drought though?
  18. Hoping the 50% chance of storms today finally pays off. Not holding my breath though.
  19. No swim practice this morning. My summer routine is f**ked...
  20. We had our party last night. We hosted divisionals, then had setup for the party at 5. Party went until 10:30. It was a ton of fun (they do an awesome video "swim show" every year), but exhausting. We're heading up to the pool today, and it'll be nice to just be there for the kids to swim.
  21. Bring me sunny, mild days with low dews and rain through August and I'll be a happy man.
