    This is one of the weirder storm days in recent memory. Between the storm motions, the outflow not doing much in large parts of the area earlier - and now nocturnal storms.

    Think there was a concert at the MD Fairgrounds tonight. Guessing that is canceled at this point.

    Unrelated....but that radar interference seemingly keeps getting worse (or maybe it's just depending on where precip is located) but it really has hurt radar accuracy in that area right near/south of the VA/MD/DC border intersection. Results in that phantom return pattern over in southern Anne Arundel County as well.

    Gonna get a big, fat zero IMBY unless more develops or the Bowling Green stuff makes it up here.

    The Virginia cell NE of Bowling Green really blew up fast.

    a cell is popping up down near Bowling Green. Would be funny if that came up and got DC/Eastern MoCo.

    And so far not a ton to speak of along the boundary collision area. Something tells me that what will happen is eventually that narrow corridor of repeating storms/hail is going to run out of gas and just sort of gust out and just be showers. Not saying game over for areas to the east yet...but there's not unlimited CAPE. And with the boundary clearing big chunks of the area - that'll drop temps and stabilize us potentially.

    I guess you could discern some boundaries via surface temps since they generally have cooler air behind them. But honestly radar is probably best for that. And they are often such small scale features and overall short in duration that an hourly mesoscale analysis might not pick them up that well. But also CINH.

    And now the cell near Haymarket seems to want to become a hail producer too...man...places running from Haymarket up to like Ashburn (including LWX) are getting absolutely demolished by this stuff. Would think at some point overturning will weaken the stuff..

    Keep hoping the outflow will start dragging stuff east more but it's not happening. That new development is going to be too far north to get me - might get clipped by rain I guess. Huge dead zone in the activity between the outflow and the stuff back in NoVA still. Interesting storm day...

    Even the new stuff popping near Rockville and Rossmoor has mostly a northerly motion. Outflow from the NoVA storms getting ready to go over MBY.

    This is insane for the long duration hail production and also the slow movement of these storms. Barely making any east progress towards my area.

    Also looks like the boundaries if they collide will occur in eastern Montgomery and DC.

    That may be one of the most perfectly round outflow boundaries I've seen recently. Near perfect arc heading ESE.

    ProbSevere numbers are starting to come down a bit now on the LWX cell(s). May cycle back up - or pop new activity. Will be interesting to see how the next hour or so plays out - slow movers!

    Stuff firing locally now. Lightning strike showing up in extreme southern tip of Loudoun County.

    The storm just E of Luray has motion of 227/11kts based on the warning. Slow mover. Almost has a little mini supercell appearance to it on base reflectivity. ETA: Actually looking at velocity maybe that cell (and the one back NE of Waynesboro do have some weak/mid level rotation?

    Cell near Bergton, VA is putting down a ton of lightning based on ENTLN data.

    How about keeping the storm thread to the storm...and not this whole tired/old debate about the ethics of finding weather interesting. There's a banter thread, after all.
