  1. Careful what you ask for! Don't want a 2018 redux!
  2. Jackpot of 'meh' wins again... Remember a gameshow in the 70s called Joker's Wild? When you'd play against the devil, if you did not get a devil and got up to $1000 you'd win the jackpot? I feel like luck being with these systems I'd pull the lever and THREE DEVILS would come up across the board! LOL
  3. We do OK at snow. Too much of a good thing isn't good! Cicadas are so regional. You can be overwhelmed and a block down the street nothing. Earthquakes, maybe if you live to be 150 and even the 5.8 in 2011 if you were driving you wouldn't have felt it. Wind, OK really depends on location but how often do we get warnings that verify? Humidity? Yes definitely! Don't forget fireflies. We get them here especially in the pine forest. At dusk it's magical. It's funny my nephew who is in the Army came and visited on the 4th of July with his wife. They live outside of Seattle and she finally asked what us what those twinkling lights were!
  4. Departmental send off party? Seriously though Congrats on retirement! At ANY age it's wonderful!
  5. Yeah people get soft and then nature eats them and spits them out at 115 degrees!
  6. Well if it's any consolation, we're losing 1 1/4 minutes per day of daylight now. If you're into that kind of thing.
  7. Washing the car is a good modern day rain dance!
  8. There's something about dry thunder especially if you've been to the southwestern USA. And yeah I didn't realize how early I hit the sheets last night! The timestamp from the video is 22:44. Thunder was barely audible then but just 10 minutes later it was rocking and rolling!
  9. Did you hear the round that moved into PA around midnight? When those storms were in western Carroll county I was watching the lightning on the tower cam and those cumulonimbus clouds looked alive like Thor was setting off nuclear bombs! Not long after that and over a county away we could hear the deep rumbles. Went out on the deck to watch and was impressed by the impact of said rumbling.
  10. It was the best for us so far this year as well. Lots of flash flooding just to our east.
  11. Haha gives new meaning of weather in the crapper!
  12. Storms all around me! At Towson earlier: Nice double rainbow looking east! These were the storms that hammered Elkton a short while ago...
  13. Totally petered out by the time it arrived here! Cone of silence alive and well.
  14. A few decent nor easters please. It can be rain just want the strong northeast wind, aka a whole gale out of the northeast as the oletimers say! This last winter was OK. Enough snow to keep things covered over for over a MONTH here and not enough requiring a skidsteer to clear. I'm fine with that. I do need a 40' extension for the snow rake to keep the solar panels clear though. Just no ice as in an inch of ZR. That's the WORST.
  15. Happy birthday 007! If you're looking for the Queen (Elsa) I hear she's looking for fish. There will be no wind nor severe in these woods for a very long time because I have finally caught up on most of the tree work. But I can think of a lot of PIA situations where the weather can jack things up and you know what Mr. Murphy has to say about that!
  16. I was able to block them using the adblock origin plugin.
  17. That may give oldtimers flashbacks from the Cuban Missile Crisis!
  18. No dark mode! And most importantly this update breaks tapatalk which is my goto from mobile! Can this be fixed?
  19. Traffic definitely is bad but at least with hydraulic clutch assists the days of cramping are over. My 1984 Shelby-Z had a cable clutch with pull of 110 pounds and stop and go was truly feared! I have to say EVs are interesting to drive especially in one pedal mode! Very good pickup and passing range is quite stout. On the high end you have sub 10s quarter mile times! In a vehicle that ANYONE can drive, it's like playing a video game. Grab the wheel, hold on and push the pedal to the floor! But let's not kid ourselves. There's nothing like rowing through a gearbox in the turns, rev matching on the downshifts and just keeping things on the edge of breaking traction through the turns. That's what made driving fun.
  20. Yes they don't work well with our wet bulbs BUT the fan itself provides great sideline relief! And on days where it's HOT with sub 70 dewpoints it still is effective at cooling people down! But in arid climes, absolutely it will feel like a 10 ton coldwave unit without the need for a water hookup and three phase power! RE: Window units... Get rid of them when convenient. Noisy, super inefficient, ugly, and yes you will have pest issues. Minisplit is the way to go. You can install yourself if you're handy. Except perhaps electrical. Once you experience the quiet of a minisplit there is no going back. Plus being a heat pump they have the ability to heat the space as well with much better efficacy than an electric resistance heater. Their balance point is typically much lower than a central heat pump too so unless it's in the single digits to 0F you can still heat with them. There are some units preserving 90% capacity at -20F but those are more costly and at that point you're looking at a multizone system that would replace your central unit.
