  1. Yes, I spoke too soon! Passed a brine truck on route 23 in Forest Hill.
  2. You know it's a non event when they haven't brined the roads!
  3. I'll gladly take a "Heat Miser" Christmas for a nice January storm aka 2016. Any day.
  4. Yeah see that, waiting for it. Supposedly between 1900 and 2300 for us. Short notice for advisory and short period too. May be worth watching.
  5. Need a meme with Clara Peller yelling "Where's the Snow?!"
  6. Flakes in Clarksville around 13:40. Thought it was just something floating around then saw it hit the windscreen and melt. Yep, it was snowflakes.
  7. On a superbike, indeed. I always wondered if the EZPASS system could register toll on a bike going through the lane at 140+.
  8. Ground is getting hard enough to split logs without a block. Nice!
  9. Those models are such teasers. There might as well be an armada of helicopters dropping frozen wieners down everywhere!
  10. Wow I drove fast in my younger days but 173 mph on the JFX? Holy Moly that's ridiculous unless you're on a Hayabusa. Looks like the Polaroid on wheels is going to spin up some greenbacks for the city.
  11. You've never had turkey until it's been fried properly! It's a PIA and potentially unsafe if you don't use common sense but wow the flavor is out of this world. Not as healthy but hey it's the time of the year to drink, be merry and gain a few which we quickly lose when working outside anyhow.
  12. Don't forget those 20 mph gusts. May make travel hazardous!
  13. The media certainly does sensationalize events lately. Heaven forbid a legitimate event show up without much warning!
  14. Looks to be a windmaker if anything else.
  15. Katydids singing, albeit slowly. Marks a new late for them!
  16. There are heat pumps that maintain over 95 percent capacity at -20F! Inverter driven minisplit units with EER values in the low to mid 20s. Very nice, dual fuel not required. Of course we always have real backup heat (woodstove)!
  17. 8-10" an hour will just shut you down in place! Imagine walking with a sheet over your head! You cannot see a thing!
  18. CME is reaching the planet now. Hopefully we clear up tonight and can see something with our eyes! Last night we had an anomaly (unrelated to the CME) and peaked around 55GW atmospheric power. Photographic auroras were captured here in northern MD! Kind of boring compared to what they saw in Iceland but I'll take it!
  19. Tree limbs brushing on overhead primaries. Very common in this weather especially in areas where tree maintenance has been postponed.
  20. Yes it does. And all this talk of flooding the worst since Isabel is pretty bad indeed! I've dealt with coastal flooding and creek flooding before, it's why I live on a hill now!
  21. It's raw out there for sure. Schools up here closed? So now we're closing schools for rain. At this rate they'll be going to July! I had a VM from our trash pickup (Bartenfelder) yesterday that recycle pickup was suspended due to severe weather. Wife looked at me and said is there something going on that you forgot to mention? I said, rain and some wind. At least for me we haven't had anything substantial rain and wind wise since Christmas Eve 2020. That was legit tropical storm conditions at times.
  22. Really clear skies tonight! Can see the Milky Way with my tired eyes. Broke out the iPhone 13 Pro Max and using a developer beta iOS 15.2 which really improves night mode performance was able to capture this!
  23. Friday may be more of a problem. Similar wind conditions but out of the E or NE and heavy rain with a lot of trees in decent canopy. It all boils down to how effective your utility plan has been in maintaining trees. There's a 10' min limit around primary distribution lines for a reason! A lot of places here maintenance has been quite lackluster and such during heavy rains with just a moderate breeze we have flickering lights and on occasion bright flashes and grunt/boom/humming from said wires.
