  1. Definitely looks breezy! Love being in the mist along the coast. Nice catch on the galloping utility lines. Looks like the worst missed the area.
  2. Going on 2 week long lightning drought here. (<30 mi) We really need something but I'm digging the cooler temps!
  3. I'll take it's not happening for $1000, Alex!
  4. I saw that just now. Of course it won't happen. Which after all, is a GOOD thing. 400k outages in our territory is NOT something anyone needs.
  5. Starting to feel the spines of summer again. Thursday won't come fast enough!
  6. Wow that busted faster than our winter storms!
  7. Cannot really compare the two, PR is reporting their entire grid failed. Localized outages happen all the time from TS force winds up here from deciduous tree falls. Trimming in the right away prevents nuisance outages but once gusts get into the 50s and 60 larger limbs and uproots become more widespread resulting in your typical distribution fault type outages affecting 10s of thousands of customers at a time.
  8. Isn't that a planned cut to reduce damage from faults? No way those gusts are bringing down lattice transmission towers or monopoles. Those are spec'd to 145 mph in that region and were rebuilt in 2018.
  9. We've been inundated with them here. Bases of southern pines look like they have barnacles which are the egg sacs. Been at it in full annihilation mode. Just don't think we're gonna eradicate them. Seems about as effective as stopping a train with a table tennis paddle!
  10. Seriously concerning for Bermuda. Could be the worst since Fabian in '03.
  11. Big cup of 'meh' for us, nonetheless a humidity breaker is always welcome. Enjoying every minute where possible as next week looks like someone is cranking up the heat again.
  12. Perfect timing for me! Will be on the clearing saw just after dawn tomorrow to tame the line and on the zero turn by lunchtime. I do like this time of the year but wish the humidity would back off a bit. I had to replace a pressure tank in the pump hall last year close to this time (09/18) and the humidity was unbearable for mid Sept!
  13. And as long as they are fish storms, all is well!
  14. Winter of '77 was BRUTAL for sure. I remember so many people saying it was "too cold to snow". If it's not going to snow, I'd much prefer milder temps especially given fuel prices.
  15. 2.35" so far. Good soaking overnight.
  16. I never liked flood watches. They lose too much time. Therefore I arrive late which is never good!
  17. Vividly remember it. Always wanted to experience a "real" quake. Did. Don't want to do it again.
  18. Experienced multiple snow devils in a late evening blizzard in 1982! Thing is, the stars were out! The winds whipped up dry powder on the ground, temp was below 15F and visibility was zero. Fun times.
  19. Yep. I was in Belair, just north of downtown when it opened up. Very close CG, instant flash and rifle sound report. These storms show the importance of local, backyard reporting. It's not uncommon to record 3.5" and your neighbor shows 2" for example.
  20. Absolute deluge this AM. Over 3" in under an hour! Drain behind shop full of pine needles, over the steps and inside. That hasn't happened in a while.
  21. 180 days of school, right? With these ridiculous winters of late, they shouldn't be using snow days or are they still closing schools every time a cold front approaches with the chance of flakes?
  22. DW has gone total hot dog this time!
  23. That was a refreshing, gusty thunderstorm here! Nice close bolt sounded like a rifle shot. 60dBz rain was super heavy, the 8mm hailstones probably pushed that into that range (purple). Nice temp drop for us. Picked up 0.75 in under half an hour! View to our south looks so peaceful!
