    Yep. I am not great at this stuff. I look for a few indicators whether we actually have chance. An Aleutian low is one of them. It forces the west coast ridge to a far better position for us. Other people here are far better at smaller scale stuff. For me it is about seeing the larger Conus and knowing when we have a chance. IF the op models are right. We have no chance for a while.

    Look at the Aleutians. Huge difference between a LP and HP there. It sets up the position of the ridge on the west coast. We cannot score consistently with an HP there. That is a cutter pattern almost always.

    Not unusual at all. Normally northern Pac. But yeah. We are done.

    And yet Einstein's theory of relativity was considered bad science for a decade. Agree. We have been very unlucky so far this year. But the overall pattern with the never ending Northern Pacific HP is PURE Nina. You are FAR MORE educated in meteorology than me. But I know a shit pattern when I see it. And the Pac has been absolute garbage.

    I will probably get blasted for this but science has become a religion to some. When the entire goal of science used to be debating differing opinions. Now if you differ from the main stream you get cancelled. That isnt science. That is conforming to the status quo.

    I mean lets be honest. We have been in three year Nina hell. The people that have disappeared are smart. Because we are basically screwed. And I see nothing on the model runs to make me think that is gonna change anytime soon. The whole "base state" stuff could be right. But until the Nina goes away we have no way to know. It has been never ending Pac puke.

    Problem is the cutter on the 17th/18th is a weak pos and doesnt bring any cold air in behind it. If it was a stronger storm we would most likely get thumped in the front end with the next one. Edit: And by we I literally mean me. Out here. In the middle of nowhere.

    More heartache I suppose? In all seriousness with the base state the way it is I am not so sure Nino's will be a good thing for us anymore either. Especially if we dont have any blocking to get the polar jet bent down into the conus. But for sure Nina's have sucked. So who knows at this point.
