    3K is pretty paltry with the clipper tomorrow night. We will be lucky to see any flakes out of it at this point.

    Yeah. I like the look of the ridging poking up into Greenland. The part that concerns me is not seeing lower heights over the Aleutians. I hope we start seeing that show up again in the long range.

    Honestly it looks like a pretty similar setup next week to me. We just dont have any energy on the southern stream.

    Interesting that 09/10 is being bantered about. Late December Snowpocalypse was followed by a kind of boring January with a couple of small events and then boom. I know some are concerned with the position of the Aleutian low. But look at its position heading into the December blizzard. Looks pretty similar to the predominate position we are seeing on guidance to me. We just arent seeing a southern stream storm next week. Now the one after that?

    The one way out in lala land the following week just missed the phase. A little earlier and its bombs away. Plenty of chances coming over the next couple of weeks ya'll. Feels way better than last year.

    Pretty active pattern over the next 2 weeks and that clipper is interesting this morning on the GFS. Verbatim temps are meh. But at least we are gonna have a few chances before mid December this year.

    First flakes of the season here as well this morning. No accums but nice to see snow falling from the sky again.

    GFS with a clipper next week. Would be awesome if a clipper ends up breaking the snowless streak.

    Yeah. High tomorrow around freezing with 25 MPH winds. Just because it isnt snowing doesnt mean it cant feel like winter. Its gonna feel pretty brutal tomorrow.

    I think there is a decent chance for us to get our first streamers out this way overnight. For those of us far west of town anyways. 3k is kind of hinting at it. We'll see.

    Good to "see" you Bob. Amazing what not having a Nina for once can do. We are gonna have our chances this year. Maybe they all fail. But I find that highly unlikely.

    I spent the past two winters studying the MJO. And posted the forecast here a ton. I am at the point where I dont think it means a damn thing to us in a NIna. Even when it was in a favorable phase during a Nina it didnt help. Now in a Nino?

    I feel pretty confident that those of us to the NW will see snow over the next couple of weeks. The modelled pattern is screaming for it. The one thing that I really love seeing is the sustained lower heights over the Aleutians. If we can get even a half way decent Pac with some some sustained blocking we will have our chances.

    The Tuesday wave would be a front end thumper in January as well. I just hope we dont use up the STJ before then.

    Has been showing an active STJ for days. We are gonna have our chances this winter brother.

    Stats are how we kind of track correlation though arent they? I am almost 55 years old and have tracked winter since I was 9 or 10 years old. So while my sample size is small my stats are all I know. And what I know from my stats is if late November/Early December suck we are most likely screwed. Now this is MY observation of MY life. Does that really mean or matter anything to anyone else? Who knows. But snow is an IMBY game. It always has been.

    3K showing a possibility for some light icing on Tuesday morning in the Shenandoah Valley. Something to watch at least. Temps have been trending a little colder on the past few runs.

    GFS would be some pretty decent LE during the few days after Thanksgiving. That is how we usually score our first accums out this way. Get a streamer to set up for an hour or so. And the southern stream is active as hell. Plenty to watch for so early in the season.

    Such an early cold shot though. I will take it right now. Pretty much everything is lining us up for a nice winter. As long as PSU gets a god damn inch we are good.
